The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union in the United States, representing more than 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Founded in 1932 as a provider of legal representation for federal workers, the AFGE has grown into a collective bargaining organization that advocates for its members on a variety of issues, including job protection, pay and benefits, and workplace safety. The organization is also involved in lobbying efforts, grassroots organizing, and public education campaigns in support of policies and legislation that benefit its members.
