Airgas is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical, and specialty gases as well as welding and safety equipment. Founded in 1982, the Pennsylvania-based company supplies gases to a range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and food processing. Airgas has over 1,100 locations across the United States, employs nearly 18,000 people and offers a range of services including cylinder tracking, gas management, and safety training. In 2016, the company was acquired by Air Liquide, a multinational company based in France. Airgas continues to operate under its own name and remains a significant player in the U.S. gas distribution market.
