About this role
Role description / primary
Responsibilities:
• Design, install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases to support AMI
applications and services.
• Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure high performance,
reliability, and scalability.
• Ensure optimal database performance by monitoring, diagnosing, and
resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Analyze and refine complex SQL queries for high-volume data processing.

• Implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and failover systems
to ensure high availability.
• Perform routine database maintenance, including patch management and
version upgrades.
• Optimize data storage and query performance for real-time analytics and
reporting.
• Maintain detailed documentation of all database systems, configurations,
and procedures.
• Occasional out-of-hours support will be required
Experience and skills required:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in MySQL other relational DBs like MS SQL,
Oracle etc.
• Experience deploying and operating enterprise database- MYSQL
• Expert Database administrator: MySQL clustering and administration
preferably in a large-scale environment.
• Strong proficiency in MySQL performance tuning, query optimization, and
replication.
• Basic understanding of Linux Administration
• Solid understanding of on-prem and cloud infrastructure
• Understanding of security best practices for database administration,
including encryption, access control, and data masking.
• Documentation skills: Ability to create plans and SOPs
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex
technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred skills:
• Knowledgeable about common internet protocols, standards,
architectures, and patterns
• Familiarity with AMI systems, smart meter data, and IoT applications in
the utility industry is highly desirable.
• Hands on experience on version control using Git (or similar)
• Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar for
infrastructure management.
• Proficiency JIRA and confluence tools
Personal attributes: • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Confident operating in front of the customer as part of a distributed team
• Able to identify risks and estimate work
Qualifications:
Bachelor of computer science/electrical/electronic engineering
