The Department of Biological Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position, starting in Fall 2026. We are seeking a part-time faculty member committed to excellence in undergraduate science education. The adjunct professor will teach both lecture and laboratory biology courses at the undergraduate college level. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teaching courses related to Anatomy and Physiology.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Anatomy and Physiology I and II or other related courses to major and non-major students.
  • Commitment to the pursuit of excellence in teaching.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Ability to fulfill assessment requirements according to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation standards.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Perform other teaching duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Candidates must have successfully completed a Doctorate (Ph.D., PharmD, MD, O.D., or D.V.M.) in relevant areas of Biology.
  • No prior experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to teach biology at the undergraduate college level.
  • Ability to prepare and implement teaching laboratories.
  • Ability to use instructional technology and course learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one years of experience in teaching biology at the undergraduate college level.
  • Experience in preparation and implementation of teaching laboratories.
  • Expertise in instructional technology and experience in course learning management systems.
