About this role

About the Role

At TrendLife, we believe the best engineers of tomorrow are those who know how to harness AI — not just as a tool, but as a force multiplier. We're looking for an Endpoint Software Engineer whose primary expertise is Windows, but who can grow their reach across other endpoints — macOS, Linux, and beyond — as our product coverage expands.

This role is anchored in Windows platform engineering: deep system-level development, performance optimization, and low-level debugging. At the same time, we're building a team that can extend the same quality and engineering depth to macOS, Linux, and other endpoints. You don't need to know every platform on day one — but you need the mindset and ability to get there.

What You'll Do

  • Own Windows as your primary platform — build and deliver Windows client applications with deep expertise in Windows internals, Win32 APIs, and system-level development. You can navigate complex Windows subsystem interactions with confidence.
  • Expand endpoint coverage to macOS and Linux — adapt your platform knowledge to new OS models, APIs, and toolchains as the product grows. You bring cross-platform thinking and the ability to ramp up on new environments quickly.
  • Develop platform-specific features — Windows services, shell extensions, COM/DCOM, kernel-mode components on Windows; system extensions, launchd, or D-Bus integrations on macOS/Linux.
  • Perform crash analysis and performance profiling — using platform-native tools (WinDbg, Xperf, ETW, ProcMon on Windows; lldb, Instruments, perf on macOS/Linux) to diagnose and resolve complex, hard-to-reproduce issues.
  • Build AI-powered features across endpoint platforms — including agent orchestration, tool integration, and AI workflow automation embedded in client applications.
  • Design and implement robust software — applying solid engineering principles: system design, design patterns, testability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate effectively — with internal teams (product, QA, architecture) and external stakeholders to align on requirements, resolve dependencies, and drive features from planning to deployment.
  • Automate and improve build and release pipelines — across Windows and other endpoint platforms to increase reliability and delivery velocity.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ as the primary language for Windows and endpoint development, with familiarity in at least one additional language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, Swift) and the ability to pick up new ones as needed.
  • Deep understanding of Windows internals — the Win32 API, Windows SDK, and OS-level concepts. Ability to apply equivalent depth to macOS or Linux platform APIs when expanding to other endpoints.
  • Solid experience with Windows platform development: Windows services, COM/DCOM, Windows shell, registry, system APIs, or kernel-mode development.
  • Familiar with Windows debugging and performance profiling tools (e.g., WinDbg, Xperf, ETW, ProcMon, Process Explorer).
  • Cross-platform mindset — comfortable reasoning about OS-level differences across Windows, macOS, and Linux, and willing to grow expertise beyond your primary platform.
  • Familiar with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, MCP servers) — able to collaborate effectively with AI and critically review and validate AI-generated output.
  • Familiar with software engineering foundations: system design, design patterns, debugging, and testing — applied in an AI-collaborative development environment.

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with macOS or Linux endpoint development (e.g., macOS system extensions, Endpoint Security Framework, Linux eBPF, kernel modules, or D-Bus).
  • Experience with Windows driver development (KMDF/UMDF) or Windows security mechanisms (ACLs, tokens, privileges, integrity levels).
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and automated testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, Selenium, Robot Framework).
  • Familiar with containerization (Docker) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiar with cybersecurity concepts or consumer security products on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Who You Are

We don't hire for years of experience. We hire for mindset:

  • Platform-deep, endpoint-curious — You understand how Windows works under the hood, and you're genuinely curious about how other platforms solve similar problems differently. When something breaks at the system level, you know where to look — and you enjoy figuring it out on a new OS too.
  • Fast learner, fast shipper — When you hit an unfamiliar problem or technology, your first instinct is to figure it out and move forward, not wait for someone to hand you a playbook.
  • AI-augmented, not AI-dependent — You know how to get the most out of AI coding tools, and you also know when to question them. You use AI to go further, faster — with judgment intact.
  • Iterative by nature — You're comfortable making reasonable decisions under uncertainty and course-correcting quickly as you learn more.
  • Engineering-minded — The code you write doesn't just run. It's readable, maintainable, and built to last.
  • Everyone owns quality — Development and testing are not separate responsibilities. You take end-to-end ownership of what you ship.
