About this role

Job Summary

Plutus21 is hiring an AI Automation Engineer to design and build the automation layer across the firm's internal operations. The role works closely with teams across the business and reports into the leadership group, with responsibility for identifying manual, repetitive, and error-prone workflows and replacing them with reliable, well-documented automated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, scope, and prioritize automation opportunities across the firm, focusing on the highest-volume and highest-risk manual processes.
  • Design, build, and maintain automations that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy across recurring operational workflows.
  • Build scalable backend architectures that can handle high-volume data processing.
  • Build AI-enabled workflows for document processing, data extraction, classification, and validation against source records.
  • Integrate internal platforms, data sources, spreadsheets, and third-party tools into connected, reliable pipelines.
  • Design and manage databases that support reliable, performant access across internal systems.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices for internal tools.
  • Develop internal tooling, scripts, and dashboards that give teams visibility into data quality, exceptions, and process status.
  • Build appropriate controls, error handling, and human review points into every automation.
  • Partner directly with internal teams to map existing processes, validate outputs, and support adoption of new systems.
  • Document all work clearly so that automations can be maintained, audited, and extended by others.
  • Monitor and maintain deployed automations, resolving failures and improving reliability over time.
  • Stay current with developments in AI tooling and evaluate where new capabilities can be applied across the firm.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Strong backend development skills, with demonstrated experience building scalable systems that handle high-volume data processing.
  • Experience with backend frameworks such as Node.js, Python and Django, or FastAPI.
  • Proficiency in Python or an equivalent language, and comfort working with APIs, data pipelines, and spreadsheet-based systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle system integration and database management effectively, across both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Working knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices for internal tools.
  • Demonstrated experience building automations, integrations, or internal tooling, with a portfolio or examples of work that can be shared.
  • Strong practical fluency with modern AI tools and models, including prompt design, LLM APIs, and AI-enabled document and data extraction.
  • Experience with automation and workflow platforms such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or Google Apps Script.
  • Ability to interpret a business problem, engage stakeholders directly, and execute independently without extensive technical direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment about where automation is appropriate and where human review must remain.
  • High level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience working across distributed or international teams is a plus.
  • Experience in financial services, investment management, or a multi-entity environment is a plus
