PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

The Assistant Director, Public Affairs, will focus on project management, research and analysis, and program development for a broad range of Public Affairs core projects, including Ratings and Assessments Institute, Campus Initiatives, Public Affairs, and Volunteer Advocacy and Community Mobilizations.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Independently design, implement, and manage the full lifecycle of cross-functional projects aligned with Public Affairs and Special Initiatives, establishing strategic project plans, setting key milestones, and driving execution to meet all deadlines.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes using data visualization tools and dashboards, including tracking and analyzing the impact of volunteer-led advocacy campaigns.
  • Research, analyze, and support the drafting of projects for RAI, CCAE, Public Affairs and Volunteer Advocacy and Community Mobilizations teams.
  • Provide written and oral briefings to Public Affairs and Special Initiatives for team leadership.
  • Represent Public Affairs and Special Initiatives at meetings, conferences, and other events as needed.
  • Provide support for budgeting processes, contract approvals, vendor management, and personnel onboarding, in collaboration with finance and other teams.
  • Support digital efforts to mobilize the ADL community and its allies in support of policy efforts, including digital activations like Calls to Action, social media campaigns, etc.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Project management, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute work efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Airtable, and Salesforce).
  • Ability to research and translate research to advocacy is preferred.
  • Analytical, with a solutions mindset, and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Several years’ experience supporting policy development, advocacy, electoral work, social impact design, or program management in a mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrable experience working with advocacy campaigns and volunteer mobilization efforts preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • An associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • ADL is a hybrid environment; this role will require 3 days in the office.

COMPENSATION:

  • This position has a salary range of $70,000-$80,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
