Position Title: Associate Scientist

Reports to: R&D Manager

Role Purpose

Diversey is seeking a motivated and technically strong Associate Scientist to support innovation and development projects at R&D Mumbai. The role will focus on assisting in the development and evaluation of formulations for Institutional and Laundry (I&L) applications, including Fabric Care, Kitchen Care, Floor Care, and Personal Care products.

The Associate Scientist will work closely with team members and cross-functional teams to execute laboratory experiments, generate reliable data, and support the development of sustainable, compliant, and high-performance products aligned with business and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments, develop test protocols, analyze data, and document findings.

  • Generate innovative ideas and solutions for new products and applications.

  • Ensure product development aligns with company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and communicate progress to management and project teams.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth project execution.

  • Manage short-term project priorities, monitor timelines, and ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer technology, Chemical Technology, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Master’s: 3-4 years of relevant R&D experience in formulation and application development in the areas of hard surface cleaning, laundry applications, Floor care & Personal care product range

  • Ph.D.: 1-2 years of relevant R&D experience in formulation or application development.

  • Candidates with know-how on interfacial science and formulation design are preferred

  • Highly proficient with hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, product testing, and stability testing.

  • Preferred to have knowledge of Six Sigma tools, project management, planning, estimating, monitoring, and controlling activities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as a team player.

  • Result-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight timelines.
