Job Description Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation & Robotics Engineer to join our GE Vernova Gas Power Global Supply Chain team in Hangzhou. Become a key part of a strategic engineering team taking products and processes from concept to operational stability utilizing lean manufacturing principles for the factory. In this role, you will collaborate across multiple organizations to design, develop, procure, install and qualify new manufacturing equipment, delivering full production-ready processes. The team will provide technical support and implement solutions for the factory to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Job Description

What you’ll do (Responsibility) 

  • Lead the implementation of advanced robotic and automation systems across manufacturing processes, including the development and deployment of robotic solutions for applications such as automated core stacking and other production workflows.
  • Design, develop, and refine robotic systems through engineering concepts, detailed designs, prototypes, and production-ready solutions, including robotic structures, electrical systems, control architectures, and automation interfaces.
  • Develop and optimize robot programming, motion control strategies, algorithms, and software applications to enable precise, reliable, and efficient robotic operation.
  • Integrate sensors, machine vision, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced automation technologies to improve robot autonomy, adaptability, and interaction with manufacturing environments.
  • Perform system integration, configuration, testing, calibration, debugging, and validation of robotic hardware and software to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable performance.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize robotic systems, including controls, mechanical components, electronics, and automation software, to improve uptime, performance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to support installation, commissioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of robotic and automated production systems.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus in robotic programming with Roboguide, RobotStudio, KUKA.sim, or other similar robotic simulation and programming software or High School diploma w/6 years of experience with robotic programming referenced above 

What will make you stand out 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science 
  • Proficient in PLC design and sensor/actuator integration
  • Proficient in industrial communication protocols including Fieldbus, Ethernet, Serial, and Wireless
  • Experience in plant manufacturing systems, electrical/controls technology in a production and processing environment, vision and barcode scanning, servo controllers and systems, and analog/digital signals.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Rockwell Automation, and/or Siemens
  • Familiarity with robotic automated blend or thermal spray systems 
  • Proficiency with Python, C++, Java, RAPID, or KAREL 
  • Familiarity with thermal spray coatings including Air Plasma Spray (APS) and High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) 
  • Familiarity with FANUC robotic and automation systems Proven technical experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong equipment troubleshooting experience and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage several projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with vendors and OEM's / construction companies to execute projects/repairs/upgrades.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Technical print and specification reading and writing abilities.
  • Proficiency at robot I/O management and troubleshooting robotic systems logic 
  • Experience programming PLC’s & HMI’s 
  • Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements. 
  • Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAD software
