About this role

Summary:

The Behavioral Consultant is responsible for conducting comprehensive behavioral assessments, developing and implementing behavioral interventions and provides individual/group services to pre-school and school age children in collaboration with their families.



Summary of Duties:



  • Conduct behavioral assessments, analyze findings, and develop individualized behaviour intervention and support plans with caregivers and service providers.
  • Develop written plans identifying client needs, goals, tasks, and timeframes, and provide evidence-based individual and group interventions using family-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Apply psychological theories, principles, and behavioral analysis techniques to support learning, memory, perception, language development, and behavior.
  • Identify crisis situations and implement appropriate interventions, while assessing client progress and re-evaluating behavioral strategies with interdisciplinary teams and support networks.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support program implementation, resource coordination, community referrals, and current best practices.
  • Liaise with families, caregivers, schools, community service providers, and professionals to ensure coordinated and consistent therapies and services.
  • Maintain related records, produce reports, and provide consultative and education services to families, caregivers, childcare providers, service providers, and the public.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Master’s degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or other relevant health related disciplines.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' recent experience providing direct behavioral assessment to preschool children with complex care needs and neurodevelopmental conditions. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of two (2) years pediatric clinical experience, with some experience in a community-based early intervention program.
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification required.

 



Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Work effectively with young children and their families to provide Behavioral therapy and consultation services. Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Strong leadership, instructional, written and oral skills and will be a committed team player

Location:             Tri Cities and New Westminster

Hours of work:  21 to 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday  (flexible to be scheduled with supervisor, some evenings and weekends may be required)
