Location: Canary Islands, Spain — preferably based in Gran Canaria, with regular travel across the islands.

Job Description/Responsibilities

Sazerac is expanding its presence in the Canary Islands and is looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to help build the next stage of growth in the market. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious commercial talent to join at an early stage, take ownership in the field and directly contribute to the growth of Sazerac brands in one of Spain’s most dynamic regions. 

The role combines customer development, market execution and entrepreneurial business building. The successful candidate will work close to the trade, open new opportunities, strengthen local relationships and help create a scalable growth model for Sazerac in Canarias. 

This role is designed for an ambitious commercial profile with strong local market knowledge, energy and the desire to grow. We are looking for someone with a strong Drive for Results mindset, who wants to learn fast, take ownership and build something meaningful from the ground up.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Brand Execution in the Market

Bring Sazerac brands to life across the Canary Islands by building distribution, improving visibility and delivering strong outlet-level execution across convenience, tourist retail and selected on-premise accounts. The role will ensure that brand plans are converted into practical actions in stores, bars, hotels and other priority outlets. 

  • New Business Development

Build and convert a pipeline of priority outlets across tourist retail, independent convenience, C&C and selected on-premise accounts. The BDM will personally open doors, activate customers and implementing execution standards that can be replicated and scaled across the market.

  • Strategic Brand Planning Initiative 

Support the development and execution of the Canarias full-portfolio plan, ensuring the right brand, SKU, pricing and activation approach by channel and by island.

  • Route-to-Market Coordination 

Coordinate the local route-to-market ecosystem to ensure Sazerac priorities are translated into consistent market execution across distribution, logistics, field sales, merchandising and customer activation.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience  
  • 3–5 years of sales or business development experience in FMCG, spirits, beer, RTD, soft drinks or energy drinks  
  • Commercial experience in the Canary Islands market  
  • Channel experience in convenience, tourist retail, C&C or on-premise  
  • Proven track record of opening new accounts and following through to activation and reorder  
  • Field sales experience with a strong customer-facing mindset  
  • Good knowledge of local trade channels across convenience, retail, C&C and on-premise  
  • Fluent Spanish and good professional English  
  • Valid driving license  
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the Canary Islands, including inter-island travel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Experience managing merchandisers or field sales agencies 
  • Existing relationships with local retailers, wholesalers, HORECA or tourist-area operators  
  • Experience launching new brands, new SKUs or new route-to-market models  
  • Established local commercial network and direct customer access across convenience, C&C, HORECA, independent retail and tourist-area accounts
