POSITION OVERVIEW 

FPWA is seeking a Campaigns Intern for Summer 2026 to directly support our True Cost of Economic Security campaign, with the potential to continue in the position through the fall semester. This role provides hands-on exposure to policy campaigns, legislative research, and campaign coordination. The Campaigns Intern works closely with the Membership, Programs, and Campaigns Team to advance FPWA’s mission under the guidance of the Campaign Manager and Campaign Coordinator

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Campaign Data Management: Help track and maintain campaign databases, project trackers, and coalition/government outreach logs to ensure data accuracy.  
  • Content & Collateral Development: Assist with the drafting and editing of campaign materials, external presentations, fact sheets, and more under the supervision of the Campaign Manager and Campaign Coordinator.  
  • Event Coordination: Support the planninglogistics, and execution of panels, forums and legislative briefings 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Help
    conduct outreach to coalition members and document participation during coalition calls. 
  • Research & Preparation: Help advance campaign goals through targeted research tasks, including identifying state legislative prospects, compiling a list of new coalition prospects listsand providing key data points on the True Cost of Economic Security. 
  • Administrative Campaign Support: Assist with general administrative tasks including but not limited to meeting minutes, tracking project action items, and the campaign’s document management infrastructure.  

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE: 

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a graduate or undergraduate program in public policy, political science, social work, law, economics, or related field. 
  • Introductory understanding of policy and advocacy landscape on key economic security issues. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong interest in public policy, economic and social justice, and civil rights. 
  • Creative and adaptive problem solver. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. 

 

COMPENSATION: 

$20 to 25 per hourcommensurate with experience. 

 

HOURS & SCHEDULE: 

This is a part-time internship beginning in summer 2026 (July/August), with the potential to continue into the fall based on performance and campaign needs. The role is structured at approximately 21 hours per week (3 full days), though additional hours may be available during the summer months. Should the internship extend into the fall, hours would adjust as needed to accommodate the candidate's schedule and the campaign's priorities. 

 

FPWA operates on a hybrid schedule, with staff in office Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The candidate will coordinate a weekly schedule with the Campaign Manager and Campaign Coordinator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

As part of building a culture where employees can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model. Employees are currently in-office twice per week with all staff in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Senior leadership is in-office three times per week. We observe a company-wide remote day on Fridays. 

  

Work performed by this role is expected to happen in or near New York, NY given FPWA's work policies and practices. 

  

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
