Care Professional Job DescriptionÂ
Objective  Â
To provide a variety of non-medical services that allow clients to remain in their own homes and to enhance the quality of their life. To help clients and their families meet the challenges of aging with dignity, pride, care and compassion.Â
Primary ResponsibilitiesÂ
Reflect the core values of Home Instead  franchiseÂ
Contribute to a positive living environment to enhance a client’s quality of lifeÂ
Document daily activities and report any significant changes in a client’s needs or living conditionsÂ
Maintain regular communication with line manager and office staffÂ
Companionship Services which could include, but are not limited to:Â
Offer companionship and conversationÂ
Monitor diet and eatingÂ
Stimulate and encourage through a variety of activities (for example clothing selection, hobbies and crafts)Â
Arrange and provide reminders for appointments, activities and outingsÂ
Help with travel arrangementsÂ
Organise mail and write lettersÂ
Assist with walking (lending an arm to steady)Â
Accompany to appointments and social events (for example visiting friends or family, lunch, club meetings)Â
Home Help Services which could include, but are not limited to:Â
Run errands / collect prescriptions etcÂ
Performing light housekeeping tasks (dusting, vacuuming, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, washing and ironing, taking out rubbish, caring for houseplants etc.)Â
Organise and tidy cupboards and check food expiry datesÂ
Plan prepare and tidy away mealsÂ
Answer the doorÂ
Assist with pet careÂ
Supervise home maintenanceÂ
Help with shopping and oversee home deliveriesÂ
Personal Care Services which could include, but are not limited to:Â
Provide medication remindersÂ
Help with bathing, dressing and groomingÂ
Help with continence careÂ
Assist to eat and drinkÂ
Provide Dementia / Alzheimer careÂ
Provide respite / convalescence careÂ
Assist with morning/wake up and or evening/tuck inÂ

Essential CriteriaÂ
Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respectÂ
Ability to adapt to various living environments and locationsÂ
Ability to listen, communicate clearly and build relationships with clients and their families in a friendly and pleasant mannerÂ
Willingness to work and communicate professionally with Home Instead office teams and other social and health care professionals Â
Respect for people with different backgrounds and beliefs to your own and who may have a range of medical conditions. Commitment to non-discriminatory care practiceÂ
Willing to seek guidance when needed and follow instructionsÂ
Excellent time keeper who is organized and reliableÂ

As a Care Professional, you will provide a variety of non-medical services to help them keep independent in their own home.
You do not need any experience or particular qualifications to become a Care Professional. However, it would be useful to have some experience of working in a care setting or interacting with older people. This could be personal experience of caring for a family member or voluntary experience. You will have a passion for supporting others and pride yourself on delivering an outstanding service. You will be reliable, trustworthy and respectful. You will enjoy building professional friendships and comfortable in spending time in the company of others.
Qualifications
No professional experience required. Full training provided.Â
