About this role

Case Manager - Youth Residential Program

Impact a Life. Build a Legacy.

Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is a faith-based non-profit that has spent over 100 years dedicated to supporting and caring for at-risk youth. We believe our quality of care is only as good as our people. We are looking for a compassionate, organized, and dedicated Case Manager to serve as a cornerstone of support for the youth in our residential program.

In this role, you aren’t just managing a caseload; you are an advocate, a navigator, and a steady presence for youth working toward a brighter future.

Job Summary

Case Managers are responsible for providing casework services designed to evaluate the appropriateness of group care, assisting youth in making optimum use of foster care, and working toward a permanent plan of care for the child.

Why Join Us?

  • Total Health: 100% paid medical coverage option and a paid life insurance policy.
  • Work-Life Balance: Set your own schedule based on the needs of your youth.
  • Generous Time Off: Paid vacation (including major holidays), sick leave, personal days, and bereavement.
  • Supportive Tools: $50/month cell phone stipend (or work phone) and mileage reimbursement.
  • Comprehensive Travel Support: Mileage reimbursement at 72.5 cents per mile.
  • Investment in You: Paid comprehensive training to ensure your success.

Your Impact (Responsibilities)

  • Advocacy: Represent the best interests of youth at court hearings, school meetings, and child/family team meetings.
  • Mentorship: Provide weekly direct casework services and build relationships with the youth on your caseload.
  • Planning: Develop and implement treatment plans and conduct intake studies to ensure every child receives the right level of care.
  • Coordination: Arrange monthly family visits, monitor educational progress and school attendance, and coordinate medical and therapeutic services.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise, up-to-date case records and prepare monthly progress reports for families and referring agencies.

What You Bring

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology) or Education is required.*
  • Team Spirit: Ability to collaborate with a dedicated team of advocates and accept professional supervision.
  • Integrity: Must pass an extensive background check and drug screen.
  • Resilience: Ability to handle the physical requirements of the role (standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 40 lbs) and the emotional weight of child welfare.
  • Citizenship: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Sponsorship not available).
  • Residency Requirement: This is a remote-first position; however, due to the nature of child advocacy and the need for frequent in-person visits (court, schools, and homes), candidates must reside within a 1-hour commute of Sevierville, TN.

Salary & Schedule

  • Salary: $31,700 – $36,200 per year (commensurate with education level).
  • Flexibility: While some appointments (like court) are fixed, you have the autonomy to manage your daily calendar to serve the youth of your case load best.
