About this role

Position Summary

The Part-Time Clinician provides structured, person-centered, recovery-oriented services to adult residents (ages 18+) living in the GRIT residential program. This position plays a critical role in supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, working within a multidisciplinary team to promote long-term recovery and assist with aftercare planning for community reintegration.

Pay Range: $52,000-$57,000 annually, depending on education level

Open Shift: Wednesday & Friday 8am-4pm, Thursday 8am-12pm (20hrs)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual therapy sessions to address residents’ co-occurring mental health and substance use needs.
  • Facilitate one clinical group per week, creating a safe and inclusive environment for peer support and therapeutic growth.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings alongside case managers, prescribers, licensed clinicians, and recovery staff to develop and review individualized service plans.
  • Contribute to the development of aftercare plans to ensure smooth transition and continuity of care upon discharge.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Support the emotional and behavioral needs of residents through a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach.
  • Foster resilience, perseverance, and empowerment in residents throughout their recovery journey.

About the GRIT Program

The GRIT program at MHA provides residential rehabilitation for individuals with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Residents participate in individualized counseling, recovery-focused programming, and community activities such as education, job training, or employment, all within a structured and supportive environment. With locations in Springfield (men’s programs) and Holyoke (LGBTQIA+ program), GRIT combines the comforts of home with access to vital resources. A skilled, multidisciplinary team works closely with each resident to support recovery, personal growth, and long-term stability, while creating personalized aftercare plans for a successful return to the community.

  • Valid driver's license, safe and reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related human services field required.
  • Licensure preferred: LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, LADC I.
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Must pass and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid (training provided if necessary).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
