Why this role matters:

As the CNC and Workshop Assistant on the HAPS team, you'll help keep our manufacturing and lab operations running smoothly. You will set up and support our CNC machines and workshop equipment, keep our growing fleet of machines and 3D printers in good working order, and make sure incoming materials and components move quickly and reliably from the loading dock to the right shelf. As our lab and workshop continue to grow in size and complexity, this role is central to keeping everything organised, available, and ready to use - so that engineers and technicians across teams can focus on building rather than searching, fixing, or waiting.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Machine set up and operation: Prepare and set up CNC machines for jobs, including tooling changes, fixturing, and programming as needed.

• Maintenance operations: Carry out monthly maintenance and corrective actions on CNC machines, and manage purchasing of in-house servicing parts as the equipment fleet grows.

• Quality and process support: Monitor part quality during runs, troubleshoot machining issues, and support process improvements for repeatability and cycle time.

• Team support: Provide hands-on support to manufacturing, engineering, and lab teams on CNC needs as they arise.

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

• Hands-on experience operating, setting up, or maintaining CNC machines

• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools and workshop equipment

• Good command of the English language, both oral and written

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Fusion 360 and 3 to 5 axis machines

• Experience with 3D printer setup, maintenance, or troubleshooting

• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance routines on workshop or manufacturing machinery

• Proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to take ownership of machine upkeep

• Curiosity and passion about technology and hands-on building
