Job Description

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Commis 1 - Continental to join our culinary team in Kochi, India. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced chefs, develop your skill set, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences in a world-class hospitality setting.

• Prepare and organize your assigned workstation and mise en place according to daily requirements and stock lists, ensuring all ingredients and tools are readily available
• Assist the Chef de Partie in executing continental cuisine dishes with precision, creativity, and adherence to established recipes and plating standards
• Monitor portion sizes and presentation quality before dishes are handed to the pass, maintaining consistency with organizational standards
• Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, and personal workstation throughout your shift
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure seamless service delivery and address any concerns promptly
• Follow all ordering procedures meticulously, ensuring every order is processed through the appropriate captain order system
• Demonstrate strong teamwork by cooperating with colleagues, assisting co-workers as needed, and supporting the overall kitchen operations
• Adhere to all hotel policies, procedures, and food safety regulations, including proper personal hygiene standards and uniform requirements
• Report to duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times
• Remain fully briefed on daily specials, promotions, menu offerings, and recipes to provide knowledgeable support
• Understand and comply with accident, fire, and evacuation procedures to ensure workplace safety
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a goal-oriented approach
• Provide a comprehensive handover to the responsible supervisor at the end of your shift, ensuring continuity of operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma/certification in Culinary Arts (required)
• Proven work experience in star hotels or relevant hospitality industry experience (mandatory)
• Creative and passionate approach to food preparation and customer service
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in high-pressure kitchen environments
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-player mentality
• Strong attention to detail with expertise in portion control and food presentation
• Solid understanding of continental cuisine preparation techniques and flavor profiles
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, kitchen hygiene protocols, and sanitation standards
• Proficiency in time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced, standing environment for extended periods
• First aid certification or knowledge (preferred)
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and standard culinary tools
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve your culinary skills and knowledge
