Community Tennis Coach

About the role

The Community Tennis Coach plays an important role in creating an exceptional tennis experience for junior and adult players at Farm & Forge Club. This position is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality instruction across a variety of skill levels while helping players develop their game, build confidence, and stay connected to tennis.

Our Community Tennis program serves players with a wide range of goals and experience levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals of the game to experienced recreational players looking to continue developing and competing. The Community Tennis Coach should be able to meet players where they are and adapt their coaching style to different ages, abilities, and learning styles.

At Farm & Forge, we want our community programming to be both developmental and engaging. We are looking for a coach who brings energy to the court, enjoys working with people, and understands that creating a great player experience is just as important as delivering strong technical instruction.

Because we are a growing organization, this role will also support clinics, camps, leagues, events, socials, match play, and other tennis programming as needed. The right person will be adaptable, dependable, team-oriented, and excited to help grow the Farm & Forge tennis community.

What you'll do

Tennis Instruction & Player Development

• Deliver private lessons, group lessons, clinics, camps, and other tennis instruction for junior and adult players
• Teach tennis fundamentals including technique, movement, positioning, scoring, strategy, and match play
• Adapt instruction based on player age, experience, ability, goals, and learning style
• Create organized, engaging, and energetic sessions that support both player development and enjoyment
• Provide clear and encouraging feedback that helps players understand how to improve
• Help beginner and developing players build confidence and strong foundational skills
• Assist with player evaluations and appropriate program placement
• Help players identify opportunities to continue progressing within Farm & Forge tennis programming

Programming & Community Engagement

• Support junior and adult clinics, leagues, camps, match play, socials, tournaments, and tennis events
• Help create an environment where players and families feel welcomed, connected, and engaged
• Build strong relationships with players, parents, members, and guests
• Support participation and retention within Community Tennis programming
• Maintain knowledge of Farm & Forge tennis offerings and help connect players with appropriate programs
• Assist with special events and other tennis initiatives as needed

Team & Player Experience

• Collaborate with other Farm & Forge tennis coaches and staff to provide a consistent player experience
• Communicate professionally with players and families
• Maintain safe, organized, and professional courts and training environments
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a service-oriented approach
• Represent Farm & Forge positively with members, athletes, families, guests, and the broader community
• Support cross-functional and organizational initiatives as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Experience coaching, teaching, or playing tennis
• Strong understanding of tennis fundamentals, technique, scoring, and match play
• Ability to work effectively with players of different ages, abilities, and experience levels
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Engaging, encouraging, and player-focused coaching style
• Ability to build positive relationships with players, families, members, and coworkers
• Dependable, professional, adaptable, and team-oriented approach
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, camps, events, and seasonal programming
• Ability to work on-site at Farm & Forge Club in College Grove, TN

Preferred

• Previous experience coaching junior and/or adult tennis players
• Experience delivering private lessons, clinics, camps, leagues, or group programming
• Competitive tennis playing experience
• Relevant USPTA, USTA, or other recognized tennis coaching certification
• Experience working within a club, academy, racquet facility, or member-focused environment
• Experience helping grow tennis participation, programming, or player engagement
