Designation Level: Sectional Head 

Reports Directly to: Construction Superintendent  

 

OBJECTIVE: The Construction Supervisor will oversee the daily on-site supervision of civil and structural work across our projects. This role is crucial for coordinating civil engineering activities, managing contractors, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring all work aligns with project plans and specifications. The Construction Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining project efficiency, safety, and quality control in the field. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

CONSTRUCTION 

 

Construction Support: 

  • Assist in overseeing daily on-site activities, including civil works, excavation, and equipment installation. 
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements. 
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and hazard identification walk-throughs. 
  • Verify construction work against drawings and specifications. 
  • Escalate technical and logistical issues to the Construction Superintendent for resolution. 
  • Support material handling and coordination of deliveries, including confirming material quantities on site. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site, ensuring adherence to access control and housekeeping protocols.  
  • Conduct site inspections, progress documentation, and basic quality assurance checks. 
  • Tracks and documents daily site activities, labor, equipment usage, and site conditions.  

 

Project Monitoring & Documentation: 

  • Update daily logs and progress reports. 
  • Maintain accurate records of manpower, site events, safety incidents and delays. 
  • Assist with the preparation of progress photos, markups, and redline drawings. 
  • Support coordination with logistics, stores, and procurement to ensure timely availability of tools and materials.  

 

Safety & Compliance: 

  • Enforce adherence to the company’s HSE protocols on site. 
  • Immediately report unsafe practices or incidents. 
  • Participate in incident investigations and safety audits as required 

 

BUDGETING 

  • Support with the preparation of the monthly budget.  
  • Contribute to the management of all budget items, including cost control and expenditure forecasting. 
  • Contribute to ensuring that the budget is in line with the department’s scheduled activities. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
 

  • Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.   
  • Carry out performance appraisals and development plans with subordinate staff.   
  • Coordinate the leave schedule of subordinate staff.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or Construction Management is mandatory. 
  • Master’s degree is a plus. 
  • Multicultural experience is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in French is a plus. 

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: 

  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry or a heavy engineering environment. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project). 
  • Understanding of construction standards, safety practices, and project documentation. 
  • Familiar with reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical instructions.
