Job Summary: 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Consultant to support our work with states in developing, managing, and growing integrated health data systems (IDS). FHC currently supports three State IDS projects at various phases of the lifecycle from nascent to mature. These data systems are used by government officials, researchers, healthcare providers, health insurers, and others to identify population trends and examine critical issues such as economic opportunity, opioid use, homelessness, healthcare access and outcomes, and education. 
 



Duties/ Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as trusted advisor to State-agency IDS clients and others that work in the healthcare industry to understand their specific challenges and goals and propose appropriate methodologies and approaches. 
  • Serve as lead and accountable party on IDS projects, with responsibility for execution of all client deliverables, including content, quality, and accuracy. 
  • Delegate work to, and oversee, cross-functional project teams – including data engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts  to achieve project goals and deliverables on time and on budget. 
  • Scope and draft written deliverables, organizing key information in a clear and impactful manner. 
  • Lead stakeholder meetings and develop presentation materials such as slide decks and briefing papers. 
  • Supervise 1-2 Project Associates, as requested, providing guidance, mentorship, and support, including day-to-day supervision. 
  • Identify opportunities to expand Freedman HealthCare’s project management offerings, including extending existing client relationships and building new business. 
  • Contribute to RFP’s and other bid proposals. 
  • Continuously build additional subject matter expertise and work collaboratively with FHC leadership to ensure consistency across IDS projects 

 

Required Skills/ Abilities: 

 

At hire: 

  • Proven experience in successfully leading and managing heath data projects, ideally with a focus on IDS projects 
  • Experience in project design and evaluation, including experience in defining project roles and delegating tasks appropriately 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work under deadlines 
  • Demonstrable writing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets and identify trends and key takeaways in a clear manner 
  • Self-motivation and time management skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote work environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Attentiveness to evolving client needs 
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to align work and project approaches with FHC’s business objectives 
  • Creative problem-solving skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Increasing management and supervision skills 

 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Advance degree (Master’s of Public Health or similar) preferred 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience leading and managing project teams in the health data or health policy fields 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
