Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and passionate Continuous Improvement Manager to play a central role in driving operational excellence across our Culina sites.

This is a highly visible role focused on developing Continuous Improvement capability across the business. You'll spend time travelling between sites, delivering engaging roadshows, facilitating workshops, coaching colleagues, and helping teams identify and implement meaningful improvements. You will be an advocate for Continuous Improvement, inspiring others to embrace CI principles and creating a culture where improvement becomes part of everyday working life.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping people learn, develop, and succeed. You'll bring strong CI expertise, excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging colleagues at all levels to drive sustainable change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a central Continuous Improvement lead, supporting sites to identify, deliver, and sustain improvement opportunities.
  • Travel regularly between sites to build relationships, engage teams, and provide hands-on CI support.
  • Design and deliver engaging CI roadshows, workshops, training sessions, and coaching programmes that build capability and confidence across the business.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement principles and methodologies, creating enthusiasm and momentum for change initiatives.
  • Identify and deliver improvement opportunities across Health & Safety, Quality, Cost, Service, and People metrics using Lean tools, diagnostics, and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Facilitate workshops including process mapping, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, solution design, and continuous improvement planning.
  • Lead the delivery of medium to large-scale improvement projects, ensuring effective planning, governance, execution, and benefit realisation.
  • Partner with site leadership teams to embed a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and visibility of CI activity across the business.
  • Support project governance through robust planning, resource management, risk management, change control, and benefits tracking.
  • Manage and monitor budgets, risks, issues, and project deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support the development of business cases and funding applications where required.
  • Work closely with Finance and operational teams to track, measure, and validate improvement benefits.
  • Use data and insight to identify opportunities, support decision-making, and demonstrate outcomes.
  • Drive colleague engagement throughout the change journey, embedding sustainable CI tools such as visual management, standard work, and workplace audits.
  • Share best practice and success stories across the organisation, helping to create a network of CI advocates.

 

Qualifications

Essential Requirements 

  • 3-5 years' experience in project management and continuous improvement within a logistics environment, with a strong understanding of best practice tools and techniques. 
  • Formal project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM or equivalent). 
  • Proven experience of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean and/or Six Sigma. 
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering both tangible and intangible business benefits. 
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail; able to take a structured and methodical approach to problem-solving. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at both team level and senior stakeholder level. 
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills, with experience leading workshops and driving engagement. 
  • Ability to set clear objectives and manage delivery against them. 
  • Collaborative, assertive, and resilient with the ability to influence and challenge where appropriate. 
  • High level of commercial awareness and understanding of business drivers. 

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of the chilled logistics or long-life supply chain sector. 
  • Experience delivering change within a transport and/or operational logistics environment, as well as office-based (transactional) settings. 
  • Additional Continuous Improvement certifications (e.g. Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
