About this role

Liberty Community Programs is seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to join our team dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of our participants while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a culinary role, a strong understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through delicious and healthy meals. The Cook will collaborate with program staff to ensure meal plans align with individual dietary restrictions and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare balanced meals and snacks, accommodating special dietary needs and preferences.
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of food supplies, maintaining proper storage and rotation practices.
  • Collaborate with staff to create menus that reflect participant preferences while meeting nutritional guidelines.
  • Keep detailed records of meals prepared and served, including portion sizes and dietary information.
  • Train and supervise kitchen assistants or volunteers when applicable.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or food service training preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a cooking or kitchen role, preferably in a healthcare or community service setting.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and meal preparation techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Certifications in food handling and sanitation (SERV Safe or equivalent) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with special dietary needs or restrictions.
  • Creative culinary skills and a passion for preparing engaging and delicious meals.
  • Ability to foster a positive dining experience and interact respectfully with participants.

Salary: $12.75 - $14.37 per hour
