ABOUT THIESS
ROLE OVERVIEW
Thiess is seeking an experienced and commercially driven CountryĀ Director -Ā Canada to lead and grow our operations across the region. Based in either Sudbury or Toronto, this executive leadership role will be responsible for strategic growth, client engagement, and the continued expansion of Thiessā presence in Canada.Ā The initial focus willĀ be to win new work andĀ progressivelyĀ take on operations responsibility as the number ofĀ activeĀ projectsĀ grows.Ā

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Thiess's Canada Strategy with a focus on growth and client value delivery
- Provide executive leadership across multiple projects and business initiatives within the regionĀ
- Partner closely with New Work and executive leadership teams to identify and pursue strategic growth opportunitiesĀ Ā
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and key partners across the mining sector.
- Drive safe, efficient, and cost-effective operational performance aligned with contractual and financial objectivesĀ
- Oversee operational planning, resource allocation, and performance management to ensure delivery against targets and business objectivesĀ
- Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and an unwavering commitment to the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees, contractors, and partners across all operations.Ā
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Ā Executive leadership experience within mining or heavy industrial operationsĀ
- Strong understandingĀ of miningĀ operations,Ā project delivery and operational planning, ideally both in open pit and underground operationsĀ
- Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed teams and complex operationsĀ
- Commercially astute with strong financial, contractual, and business development capabilitiesĀ
- Ability toĀ influenceĀ executive and client leadership levelsĀ
- Competence in financial and mine planningĀ Ā
- Proficient commercialĀ and contractualĀ acumenĀ Ā Ā
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunitiesĀ
- Cost control and financial accounting skillsĀ Ā
- Passion for people leadership, team development, and succession planningĀ Ā
- ExperienceĀ DrivingĀ safety culture and operational excellence in high-risk environmentsĀ Ā
- Adaptable, collaborative, and solutions-oriented leadership styleĀ
- Strong communicator with exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skillsĀ
EDUCATION
- Bachelorās degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferredĀ Ā
- Significant senior leadership experience within mining or related heavy industry sectors
- ExperienceĀ managing large-scale operational teams and multiple business priorities
- Demonstrated experience in operational leadership, project delivery, and commercial managementĀ Ā
- PMP or equivalent project leadership certification considered an assetĀ Ā
- Authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship requiredĀ Ā
- Fluent in English; French language capability considered an assetĀ

The salary range for this role is minimum $270,000 to a maximum of $300,000 CAD. The salary range is provided in good faith and is representative of all experience levels. Thiess considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role function and associated responsibilities, a candidateās work experience, location, education/training, and key skills and is ultimately determined at managementās discretion.
