About this role

Responsibilities:

ITG require a talented and highly self-sufficient Creative Technologist to identify client challenges and rapidly turn them into demonstrable, technology-led solutions. This is a role for someone who thrives on ambiguity, is comfortable working both independently and alongside other creative talents, and is excited by the pace at which modern AI tooling allows ideas to be prototyped and proven.

The core of the role is a short, focused cycle: identify a genuine challenge or opportunity for our client, then spend a concentrated period — typically around a week — using AI tools such as Claude Code to build a working, demonstrable solution. These prototypes do not need to be production ready, but they must be polished and compelling enough to present to a client audience and show, tangibly, how technology could solve a real problem.

Solutions will frequently make heavy use of AI: prototyping with AI coding tools, and building solutions that themselves incorporate AI agents, LLMs, models, and MCP services. The Creative Technologist is expected to stay at the leading edge of these tools and techniques, and to bring a strong point of view on where they can create value for the client.

The role works closely alongside a creative software designer and Creative Director, feeding ideas in both directions — helping to identify the right problems to solve, and shaping the wireframes and proposed user journeys that support each solution. Beyond that partnership, the role is deliberately autonomous: the successful candidate will research, decide, and deliver with limited support from the wider team.

What software, code and tools will I be working with?

AI Prototyping & Development

●      AI coding tools such as Claude Code, used to rapidly build demonstrable prototypes.

●      Large Language Models (LLMs) and hosted/served models as building blocks within solutions.

●      AI agents and agentic workflows.

●      MCP (Model Context Protocol) services to expose data and capabilities to AI systems.

●      Prompt design and an understanding of how to get reliable, high-quality output from AI tools.

Prototyping & Web

●      Comfortable building working front ends quickly — JavaScript / TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as React where appropriate.

●      Able to stand up lightweight back-end services and APIs to support a prototype.

●      Familiarity with AWS cloud services     sufficient to deploy and demonstrate a solution.

Supporting Tools

●      IntelliJ IDEs / VS Code

●      JIRA

●      Confluence

●      GitLab and GitLab pipelines

●      Lucid Charts

●      Design and wireframing tools (e.g. Figma) to collaborate with creative software design teams.

An idea of the day to day?

●      Identify and articulate a genuine challenge or opportunity for the client that technology could address.

●      Work alongside a creative software designer to shape problems worth solving, and the wireframes and user journeys that support them.

●      Spend focused periods — typically around a week — building a demonstrable prototype using AI tools.

●      Incorporate AI agents, LLMs, models, and MCP services into solutions where they add value.

●      Prepare and present prototypes to a client audience, clearly showing how the solution addresses their problem.

●      Research and stay ahead of emerging AI tools, models, and techniques, bringing a strong point of view on their application.

●      Work autonomously, managing your own research and delivery, with support from the wider team when required.

●      Capture and document solutions clearly so ideas can be understood, revisited, and taken forward by others.

Who are we looking for?

This role is all about turning ideas into something tangible, quickly and independently. As such the candidate must be comfortable setting their own direction and running with open-ended problems without close oversight, and able to manage their own time effectively. Natural curiosity and inventiveness are essential. Candidates must have exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to present technical ideas compellingly to a non-technical client audience. Experience of building prototypes with modern AI tooling, and a demonstrable enthusiasm for the fast-moving AI landscape, are central to the role.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • At least 1 years experience building software and/or prototypes with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor
  • At least 5 years experience building web applications and websites using JavaScript, Typescript, React and ES6+
  • At least 2 years experience working with backend stacks (Node, Java, or Python)
  • At least 1 years experience configuring and using AWS web hosting (S3, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda)
  • Demonstrable experience of working alongside creative teams
  • Demonstrable experience presenting to clients and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Terraform to manage AWS deployments desirable but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of DynamoDB and vector databases such as ElasticSearch/OpenSearch
