Credit & Collections Specialist

Position Summary

The Credit & Collections Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts, collecting outstanding invoices, and helping maintain healthy accounts receivable. This role works closely with the Accounts Receivable team, Billing, Sales, and Operations to resolve payment issues, answer customer questions, and ensure timely collections.

We're looking for someone who is organized, communicates well, and enjoys building positive customer relationships while working in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
• Contact customers by phone, email, and customer portals regarding past-due balances.
• Review aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by working with Billing, Operations, Sales, and Customer Service.
• Process customer credit applications and gather supporting documentation as needed.
• Assist with monitoring customer credit limits and payment terms.
• Maintain accurate collection notes and account records within company systems.
• Escalate complex collection issues or high-risk accounts to management when necessary.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers while collecting outstanding balances.
• Follow company credit and collections policies and procedures.
• Assist with special projects and other Accounts Receivable duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit, or Collections.
• Transportation, logistics, brokerage, or freight industry experience is a plus, but not required.
• Experience managing customer accounts and collecting outstanding balances.
• Basic understanding of accounts receivable, aging reports, and credit processes.
• Experience with TMS or ERP systems (McLeod, ePay, or similar) is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, dependable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
