As theĀ AustraliaĀ DevelopmentĀ PlanningĀ Manager,Ā you will report to theĀ APAC Planning DirectorĀ and workĀ closely withĀ Development,Ā DesignĀ andĀ Site Selection Teams, making your mark inĀ severalĀ ways:Ā
- Develop andĀ provideĀ strategic advice on the planning and execution of our projects aroundĀ Australia from Site Selection through toĀ construction.Ā Ā Ā
- ManageĀ earlyĀ siteĀ assessmentsĀ and planning applications, collaborating with internal and external stakeholdersĀ to ensureĀ theĀ timelyĀ andĀ positiveĀ developmentĀ outcomes.Ā Ā
- ProvideĀ supportĀ on allĀ development andĀ planning matters.Ā Ā

YourĀ Day to DayĀ
- Onboard, manage and developĀ third party consultants andĀ specialists to support.Ā
- ExecuteĀ developmentĀ planningĀ strategies to ensure weĀ remainĀ theĀ leaderĀ in our industryĀ in all markets.Ā Ā
- Ensure complianceĀ to local planning requirements.Ā Ā
- ImplementĀ reporting,Ā framework,Ā processesĀ and proceduresĀ to ensureĀ strongĀ governance.Ā Ā
- Develop,Ā manageĀ andĀ maintainĀ key relationships withĀ government agencies,Ā regulatoryĀ authoritiesĀ andĀ consultants,Ā toĀ provide fast and reliable advice onĀ developmentĀ mattersĀ
- Manage theĀ timelyĀ preparation, review and lodgement of all documents relating to planning applicationsĀ and environmental approvalsĀ in accordance withĀ planning legislation, policies, and guidelines,Ā to obtain all necessary permits and approvalsĀ Ā
- Review and report on strategic and statutory planning adviceĀ impactingĀ our developments acrossĀ AustraliaĀ
- ProvideĀ guidance and mentoring toĀ Planners,Ā Development and ProjectĀ Managers..Ā
- SupportĀ project stakeholdersĀ to track delivery,Ā monitorĀ progress,Ā identifyĀ risks and opportunities,Ā and mitigate delaysĀ on planning advice,Ā permittingĀ and approval timelinesĀ
- CollaborateĀ and provide guidance toĀ Site Selection team on planning due diligence andĀ provideĀ pre-acquisition adviceĀ on risks and opportunities,Ā to optimise development outcomesĀ
- Engage with authorities and regulatory bodies as a technical lead to achieve bestĀ possible projectĀ outcomesĀ
- Provide regularĀ reportingĀ to track delivery, updates and presentationsĀ toĀ APAC Planning DirectorĀ and internal stakeholders including planning strategy, progress reporting, risk assessments,Ā investment committees, andĀ business case development.Ā

MinimumĀ Requirements:Ā Ā
- 10Ā yearsĀ experienceĀ working inĀ theĀ developmentĀ industryĀ and a recognised tertiary qualification in planning, engineering,Ā designĀ or development.Ā Ā
- Knowledge andĀ proficiencyĀ inĀ AustralianĀ development processes,Ā planning legislation, policies, and guidelines,Ā particularly NSW and VIC.Ā
- ExperienceĀ inĀ obtainingĀ planningĀ approvals.Ā Ā
- StrongĀ understanding and interpretation of planning instruments andĀ demonstratedĀ knowledge of statutory requirements and policies.Ā Ā
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability toĀ effectivelyĀ manage, collaborate, consult, advise,Ā influenceĀ and negotiateĀ with a wide range ofĀ internal and externalĀ stakeholders, local councils, and statutory authoritiesĀ
- Ability to work across multiple teams and manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, problem solving, risk and time management deliverables.Ā
- Strong analytical,Ā commercialĀ andĀ problem-solvingĀ skillsĀ toĀ oversee and apply planning legislationĀ
- Ability and willingness to think outside the square, be innovative and solutions orientated to drive safety, quality, time, and cost outcomesĀ
- Professional attitude with persuasive skills in making things happenĀ and ability to influence positive planning outcomesĀ
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, enabling the establishment of relationships and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.Ā
- ProficiencyĀ with the Microsoft Outlook, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Ā Autocad, and ArcGISĀ
- Willingness to travel throughout Asia-PacificĀ
