Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Administration, the Director, Admissions leads all recruitment, admissions, and enrollment activities for the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Director develops and implements admissions strategies that support enrollment goals to identify, attract, and enroll highly qualified students who align with the College's mission and commitment to excellence while ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements and institutional standards.

 

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct/Manage the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Central Admissions Department for two campuses in New York and Arkansas. Develop and oversee implementation of the policies and procedures, oversee personnel, and develop/manage the annual budget.
  • Direct the total enrollment process of NYITCOM New York and Arkansas coordinating with the Admissions Committee to issue acceptances for both campuses.
  • Direct total enrollment process of Émigré Physicians Program (EPP).
  • Maintain statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, forecasting, yield management and operational efficiency.
  • Direct/Manage the NYITCOM application process. Upgrade technological processes utilized in the application process. Create an efficient management of applicant data reporting, interview scheduling, student correspondence for both campuses in New York and Arkansas and EPP Program.
  • Direct/Manage the medical school applicant interview process.
  • Chair the faculty interview committee.
  • Create an effective candidate interview process that presents a very positive view of the college by incorporating presentations, faculty interactions, campus tours, and student ambassadors.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan with the purpose of promoting visibility to generate an annually increasing pool of qualified and diverse applicants.
  • Oversee Long Island on-campus recruitment programming, including Information Sessions/Campus Tours.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships and collaborations with key outside constituents that greatly improve the school's visibility (Pre-Professional Health Advisors, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine).
  • Continuously evaluate and restructure the admissions internal operations to substantially improve the workflow and effectiveness of a high volume, fast paced process coordinating all activities between New York and Arkansas.
  • Continually evaluate and upgrade the overall physical set up of the admissions offices in both locations to improve the COM image for students during visitations and interview process.
  • Lead the admissions effort in restructuring special programs to improve student and program quality (BS/DO, Émigré Physicians Program).
  • Create regional recruitment programs which specifically target these populations and develop electronic admissions processes as needed.
  • Create admissions processes for new master’s degrees and other special programs. Collaborate in the creation and implementation of numerous Articulation Agreements for New York and Arkansas.
  • Direct the team to develop and execute all department communication and promotional materials with applicants coordinating efforts with the NYIT Strategic Communication and External Marketing
  • Serve as a key member of the AACOM Council of Osteopathic Medicine Admissions Officers
  • Chair the campus-based admissions decision committees, serve on the medical school central admissions committee and the central enrollment services committee and central student administration management team.
  • Participate in planning of student events (Orientation, Hooding, White Coat Ceremony, and others).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required degree: Master’s degree
  • Required Field of Expertise: Admissions, College Administration
  • Knowledge and experience with professional school admissions. Knowledge of admissions recruitment planning. Knowledge of admissions process, educational systems, and requirements for internationally trained students.
  • Effectively manage staff and high-volume process at a multi campus college . Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, alumni, and outside constituents. Work independently, effectively, and accurately. Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
