Role Summary

As Rowan's Business Development organization scales to support significantly increased deal volume, this role will help build the execution infrastructure behind that growth. BD-OS is a pillar within BD alongside Customer Development and Commercial Strategy & Negotiation focused on program management, CRM and customer planning systems, and cross-functional coordination across live deals and broader BD initiatives.

The Director will take Rowan's existing tools and processes and evolve them improving and, where needed, designing and standing up the systems, reporting, and operating rhythm that give BD and its stakeholders clear visibility into deal and customer status. This role also plays a central part in customer-facing planning and reporting: tracking account status, progress, next steps, and strategic plans across Rowan's key relationships.

Whether this role carries direct reports initially is still being finalized, but it is likely to grow a small team over time as the group's scope and volume increase.

Essential Responsibilities

Success in this role depends on close collaboration across BD and the broader organization. Working with others including peers across BD's other pillars and, as the team grows, colleagues within BD-OS you will help own:

  • Deal program management: Workback schedules and timeline discipline on live deals, in support of both Commercial Strategy & Negotiation and Customer Development.

  • CRM & customer planning: The systems used to track customer status, progress, next steps, and account strategy — ensuring the organization has an accurate, current view of every key relationship.

  • Systems & tools: The trackers, dashboards, and repeatable processes that create visibility into deal status, reducing reliance on ad hoc status-chasing.

  • Cross-functional coordination: Alignment with Legal, Energy, Sites, and Capital Markets on deal-critical inputs pricing, technical feasibility, yield so deals move efficiently through to execution.

  • Leadership & board reporting: Clear, accurate reporting for senior leadership and capital partners, including materials supporting approval requests.

  • Process design: Improvements to BD's operating rhythm and structure that scale with the business.

What We're Looking For

  • A track record of building and improving systems and processes — evidenced through project management, program management, or operations roles, ideally within real estate, infrastructure, technology, or a similarly complex commercial environment.

  • Experience with CRM platforms and customer/account reporting structures.

  • Comfort driving structure and cross-functional cooperation with stakeholders who don't report to you.

  • Experience producing or contributing to senior leadership or board-level reporting, ideally including approval-request materials.

  • Strong judgment on sequencing and prioritization in a fast-scaling environment.

  • Genuine interest in building and evolving a function as it grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in business development operations, program/project management, deal management, business development, technical sales, or a related commercial operations role.

  • Prior experience in data centers, infrastructure, commercial real estate, or another capital-intensive development industry preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Smartsheet) and building reporting/dashboard tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing materials for senior leadership or board-level audiences.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally across legal, technical, and commercial teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
