About this role

Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Director of Human Resources to join our team! The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic and employee related activities for Human Resources. This includes establishing, meeting, and continuously monitoring departmental goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for Copley Hospital. While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, the position’s major responsibility is directing the day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial management, and human resource management (including bargaining unit correspondence). The Director works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of Human Resources across the enterprise.

 

This position is Full-Time (PT available).

    The posted salary range reflects compensation for candidates with limited experience. An offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data. An offer of employment may be outside of the posted range based on those factors.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees union relations including contract negotiations and ongoing grievance management.
    • Experience implementing new HRIS and time/attendance systems.
    • Uses advanced skills in all aspects of the HR life cycle.
    • Provides an experience and environment of patient- and family-centered care.
    • Interprets impact of broad scope organizational change for staff and develops change strategies for successful implementation.
    • Incorporates Copley's vision, missions and values in goals and programs within Human Resources.
    • Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.
    • Formulates objectives, goals and strategies collaboratively with other stakeholders.
    • Operates well in high-volume environment.
    • Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, to include performance related to finance, clinical activity, quality, safety, marketing, and human resources.
    • Creates and maintains a satisfying workplace that fosters professional growth and job satisfaction for all members of the healthcare team.
    • Interviews to select top talent, matching Human Resources needs with appropriate skill sets.
    • Develops and implements recruitment and retention strategies that support a culture of leadership.
    • Identifies and addresses own professional growth needs.
    • Assesses manager and staff development needs, identifies goals and provides resources.
    • Ensures integration of ethical standards and core values into everyday work activities.
    • Communicates with physicians, academic department leaders, and senior administrators to maintain coordination with other Copley Hospital programs.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area such as healthcare administration, business administration, or human resources management.
    • Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (preferred).

    Experience:

    • 7+ years relevant experience in the health-system leadership and management. 
    • Project management experience in HR and time/attendance systems implementation (preferred).

    Certifications:

    • Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR), and/or SHRM-CP (SHRM Certified Professional)
