Job Description

The Director, Transaction Management leads the due diligence and closing execution for the company’s acquisition and disposition activity, ensuring disciplined process, risk management, and cross-functional alignment through post-close stabilization. This leader sets direction for the transaction management function and drives consistent execution through a team of 4–6 transaction professionals, partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and continuously improves the operating model to strengthen outcomes and efficiency.

This role requires deep transaction experience, outstanding judgment and communication, and a track record of leading teams to deliver results in fast-moving, high-accountability environments.

Transaction Leadership & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end diligence and closing for acquisitions and dispositions, ensuring predictable timelines, clear accountability, and high-quality deliverables from pre-DD through post-close handoff.

  • Serve as escalation point for complex diligence findings, structure issues, and closing risks; ensure appropriate documentation, decisioning, and resolution.

  • Own the transaction management operating cadence (deal dashboards, critical path tracking, stakeholder updates) to drive transparency and speed.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a primary connector across Investments, Debt Capital Markets, Portfolio Strategy, Capex, Asset Management, Risk, Tax, Accounting, Legal, operating partners, and outside counsel to ensure coordinated execution.

  • Lead cross-functional working sessions and diligence tours; ensure the right information reaches the right decision-makers at the right time.

  • Maintain strong external relationships with sellers, buyers, brokers, and third-party vendors to support efficient, professional execution.

Team Leadership (4–6 direct reports)

  • Build, coach, and lead a high-performing team; establish clear expectations, cultural norms, and performance standards.

  • Delegate with intent to develop capability and build bench strength; provide direct, actionable feedback and support growth.

  • Create clarity and accountability across deal assignments and workload balancing.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee implementation of key process improvements (templates, playbooks, vendor SLAs, governance routines) to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Identify and seize opportunities to improve organizational performance and effectiveness within transaction execution.

  • Ensure consistent handoffs to internal partners for onboarding/offboarding assets and post-close integration readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).

  • 10+ years of relevant real estate experience with a strong concentration in multifamily transactions (acquisitions/dispositions; investment banking, principal investing, asset management, or similar).

  • Proven track record leading teams of 4–6 and delivering outcomes through others (not just individual execution).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder deal processes with urgency, accuracy, and sound judgment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; high responsiveness and proactive stakeholder updates.

  • Strong analytical capability and comfort with business data and decision support (Excel and MS Office proficiency expected).

  • High integrity, professionalism, and alignment with values and culture expectations.
