ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks applicants for the role of Disability, Accessibility & InclusionĀ ManagerāÆon theĀ Disability Accessibility & Inclusion (DAI) TeamĀ within theĀ Business OperationsĀ and Support ServicesĀ unitāÆofĀ the ACLUās National office.
This is a full-time hybrid role with in-office requirements of two (2) days per week, or eight (8) days per month from one of the ACLUās National office locations in New York, NY, Washington, DC, or San Francisco, CA.Ā Remote candidates may be considered for this position.
The Administration and Finance DepartmentāÆprovideāÆoperational, financial, technical, and human capital support and services for a 550+ person national non-profit organization. The department is integral in creating and sustaining cohesive systems across departments to ensure all staff have access to the resources they need to support ACLU's mission of advancing civil liberties and civil rights.āÆThe DAI team supports this critical work by leading the organization in taking a bold, visionaryāÆapproachāÆto embedding accessibility and inclusion, dismantling ableism, and cultivating a deep culture of belonging.āÆĀ
WHAT YOU'LL DOĀ
Reporting toĀ theĀ Senior Director, Disability Accessibility & InclusionĀ (SDDAI),Ā theāÆDAIĀ ManagerāÆwillĀ be responsible forĀ managing and sustaining theĀ organizationāsĀ DAIĀ program, translating strategy into day-to-day operations and cross-functional initiatives. The role partners closely with departments across the organization to embed DAI practices into policies,Ā practices, and ways of working.Ā Ā
In addition to program management, the DAIĀ ManagerĀ will playĀ a key role in supporting organizational culture change by building trust-based relationships, providing guidance and education, andĀ staff support.Ā The DAI Manager is privy to confidential information, including staff survey results andĀ disability-relatedĀ staff experience.Ā The position requires strong collaborationĀ and sustained engagement to effectively influence practice and outcomes. Success in this role depends on the ability to manage complex initiatives while fostering long-term commitment to DAI acrossĀ the organization.Ā
YOUR DAY TO DAY
Strategic OperationsāÆĀ
- Support the DAI Strategic Plan visionāÆand project management,āÆseekingāÆto align it with the ACLUās overall strategic directionāÆĀ
- Support the communication of theāÆDAIāÆteamās projects,āÆinitiatives,āÆand accomplishments across the organization, ensuring consistent and transparent messaging that highlights progress, key milestones, and the impact of theāÆDAIāÆteamās leadershipāÆĀ
- Help drive project management for specified largeāÆDAI-centeredāÆcross-departmentalāÆand cross-organizational, multi-team, primarily internal-facing projectsāÆand initiativesāÆincluding DAIĀ Steering Committee,āÆworkingāÆor projectāÆgroupsāÆĀ
- Collect,āÆmonitor, and report on dataāÆregardingāÆdisability, accessibility, and inclusionāÆgoals as well as recruitment, hiring, and attrition trends in collaboration with the HR teamāÆĀ
Program & ProjectāÆManagement⯠Ā
- Serve as a primary liaison to the Disability EmployeeāÆResourceāÆGroup (ERG)Ā
- Manage DAI projects,Ā ensureĀ theyĀ meetĀ objectives, engageĀ appropriate stakeholders,Ā and effectivelyĀ communicateĀ status, risks, and deliverablesĀ
- Serve as theāÆDAIāÆteamās main point of contact for external vendors and consultants on projects; oversee vendor and consultantāÆprocurement process, gather andāÆsubmitāÆfinancial documentation, and work with counsel to generate contracts, all with accuracy and timelinessāÆĀ
- Lead and conduct yearly organization-wide audits of ACLU practices to assess gaps in workplace accessibility and inclusion, assessing areas of attention and developing action plans to addressāÆĀ
- Monitor alignment of ACLUās policies and practices with disability law, regulations, the ACLUās internal disability affirmative action policy, and industry best practicesāÆĀ
- Develop,āÆlead, and evaluateāÆDAI-focusedāÆtrainingāÆcurriculumāÆand workshopsāÆfor national staff on topics including but not limited to ableism, disability justice, and inclusion by designĀ
- Function as a thought partner and collaborator with theāÆSDDAI onĀ developingĀ directĀ resourcesāÆand providingāÆinformed, expert consultation to the organization on best practices for workplace accommodations,āÆrecruitingāÆand hiring staff with disabilities, creating accessible trainings, and confronting ableism and ableist language, etc.Ā
- Work in concert with the Affiliate Support & Nationwide InitiativesāÆteam to provide support andāÆresourcesāÆfor affiliates to integrate DAI principles and practicesĀ
- Serve as the entry point for internal DAI conflictāÆresolution, andāÆassistāÆināÆdeveloping and providingāÆresourcesāÆto promote the successful execution of various conflictāÆresolutionsĀ
- Act as a key DAI partnerĀ and advisor in programmatic and departmental initiativesĀ
- Other projects as assignedĀ
Communications⯠Ā
- Manage systems for communication so National staff have the most up-to-date information, feel connected to the larger team and missionĀ
- Create monthly DAI newsletters to cover a wide range of topics; liaise with otherĀ departments as neededĀ
- Maintain, update, and createĀ contentsĀ for the intranet pages for the DAI teamĀ

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
While remote candidates may be considered, preference will be given to those who can work a hybrid schedule from one of our National Office locations (New York, NY, Washington, D.C., or San Francisco, CA). For remote employees, occasional travel to a National Office for collaboration and organizational engagement is strongly preferred but not required.

- Proven experienceĀ in the DAI field, including successfully operationalizing organizational strategy, set goals, track progress, and support multi-department initiativesĀ
- Strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented andĀ possessĀ the ability to follow projects through to completionĀ
- SkilledĀ at collecting and analyzing data to assess program impact, inform decisions, and mitigate risksĀ
- Experience leading complex, cross-organizational projects from planning throughĀ implementation and evaluationĀ
- Experience managing short-term and long-term projects, vendors, with the ability toĀ establishĀ priorities that will effectivelyĀ utilizeĀ the staffās time and the departmentās resources, and following projects through to completionĀ
- Strong project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, clearly communicate progress, and address issues while still meeting required deadlinesĀ

- Deep knowledge of disability, accessibility & inclusion, ableism, and disability justice in workplace systems and cultureĀ
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others including cross departmentally as part of a teamĀ
- Demonstrated ability to advise and support staff and partners on accessibility, disability inclusion, and policy alignmentĀ
- Experience conducting organizational assessments or audits and developing actionable improvement plansĀ
Ā Education & TrainingĀ
- Skilled inĀ identifyingĀ learning needs,Ā developingĀ or overseeing DAI-focused training,Ā facilitatingĀ workshops, and evaluating effectivenessĀ
- Ability to translate complex DAI concepts into practical, accessible guidance for staff and leadershipĀ
