Description of Work

This is an anticipated vacancy.

The Administrative Specialist I position will assist the Director’s Office will all tasks that have a direct bearing on the Vehicle Services Section. The selected candidate is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director, Program Analyst II’s and Program Supervisor II’s.
In addition, the Administrative Specialist I is responsible for multiple tasks including, but not limited to:
• answering the phone
• assisting the general public, constituents, legislators and requests from the Governor’s Office.
• compose correspondence letters
• update employee personnel files
• monitors data and compiles necessary reports
The Administrative Specialist I position will also act as backup to the HR liaison and Inventory liaison.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade: NC08 Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Experience in planning, prioritizing, organizing, and reviewing processing procedures and office workflow.
  • Experience with MS Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in reviewing, interpreting and processing information to determine a conclusion, action, compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations.
  • Experience in researching and resolving complex issues with a diverse clientele.
  • Experience in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
