Job Description

Purpose of the Job

To support and implement the site's Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and global EHS objectives. The role is responsible for identifying workplace hazards, driving corrective and preventive actions, conducting safety inspections and training programmes, monitoring contractor safety performance, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Inspections, Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and surveys across plant areas to identify hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Perform workplace risk assessments and job hazard analyses for various departments and operations.

Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences; conduct root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and maintain the EHS Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) database, tracking implementation status and verifying effectiveness.
  • Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

EHS Training & Awareness

  • Conduct EHS induction training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Deliver safety training programmes and awareness sessions on various EHS topics.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety campaigns and toolbox talks.

Safety Management & Permits

  • Support the development and implementation of EHS procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Review and issue work permits for high-risk activities, verifying compliance with safety controls.
  • Monitor fire protection systems and support emergency preparedness planning and drills.

Contractor & Performance Management

  • Maintain records of contractor EHS evaluations and monitor compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Track site EHS performance against KPIs and prepare reports and dashboards for management review.

Qualifications

  • Experience Required: 4-5 Years in Pharma or Chemical API
  • Qualification: B.Tech- Chemical / Diploma-Chemical or MSc-Chemistry & Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety
