About this role

About This Role: 

As an Engineer in Upstream Pilot Development, you will play a critical role within the BioATMP Development team, focusing on the planning, execution, and analysis of pilot-scale cell culture experiments. This engineer will be responsible for documenting experimental results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and following all laboratory safety protocols. This position is essential to the progression of upstream pilot development work, contributing significant value to the team by driving innovation and efficiency in the way we scale up processes into our manufacturing plants. You will be an integral part of the BioATMP Development structure, collaborating closely with process development teams to deliver high-quality results that propel the business forward.

This is an onsite role to be based at our office in Research Triangle Park, NC.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate and execute pilot-scale cell culture experiments with guidance from your supervisor.

  • Document experimental results and techniques in laboratory notebooks and compile detailed reports.

  • Analyze data to support the development of upstream pilot processes.

  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Order laboratory supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the upstream pilot laboratory.

  • Present experimental findings to the upstream pilot development and proteins development teams.

  • Attend departmental meetings to communicate progress and collaborate on project goals.

  • Follow all laboratory safety guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.

  • Collaborate with other development teams and site automation and engineering to solve complex problems.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.

  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment maintenance and operation.

  • Experience in a laboratory setting, specifically in cell culture or proteins process development.

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $73,000.00-$95,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
