What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking an Engineering Technician to join Synchrony, our magnetic bearings product team based in Salem, VA. In this role, you will assemble electro-mechanical products and perform other general assembly duties. You will also drive the successful execution of cutting-edge magnetic bearing and high-speed motor development projects by ensuring assembly and testing is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. This position is based at our Synchrony office location in Salem, VA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, as well as US citizens and/or Permanent Residents of the US. Sponsorship and relocation is not provided for this position.
How you will do it
Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence
Assembly components to complete assemblies and subassemblies
Press fit components together by heating and fitting
Connect electrical components by properly wiring them according to schematics
Basic testing on components, subassemblies and assemblies
Use hand tools to assemble units
Use adhesives to attach components and secure wires and coils
Create coils and assemblies with high precision and attention to detail
Read and understand work instructions and blueprints
Assemble circuit boards and electrical panels
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and orderly workplace
Responsible for understanding and complying with quality policy, procedures and instructions to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, attainment of business goals and environmental well-being
Support the Engineering Team as needed
What you will need
Required
High school diploma
High mechanical aptitude
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Read, understand and follow assembly instructions and follow blueprints and diagrams
Experience using hand tools such as screwdriver, pliers, micrometers and others
Operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment but need basic skills beforehand).
US citizen and/or Permanent Resident
Preferred
1+ years of assembly experience in a light industrial setting
An Associates or Technical degree
Experience working with mechanical parts
Physical Demands
Must be able to be on feet all shift
Employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
Able to use hands for assembly and tool usage
Cannot have allergies, or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20.00/hr - $35.00/hr Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
