About this role

Material Control Systems is growing and looking to add to our fabrication team!

This new role will be working under the fabrication umbrella. This is an on-site role where the expectations are to be in the office for work performed as well as spending some time on the fabrication floor.

During our time of growth, we have noticed a need to focus on the building of what is coming. This includes the need to have support for some of the day to day tasks while helping outline, develop and administer some existing and new scope of work for better service to our client. 



Summary/objective

The Fabrication Operations Associate is responsible for project-based knowledge and reporting as it relates to the department. This position is accountable for all details involving quotes, repairs, work tickets, and inventory.



Essential functions

  •   Responsible for execution of quotes.
  •   Ability to audit repair and work tickets.
  •   Ability to step into any role in the process and troubleshoot on the floor as needed, while looking for ways to improve day to day operations.
  •   Accountable for timely responses and communication to align teams for efficient work.
  •   Ability to maintain open, two-way, communications with all contacts; company officers, subordinates, corporate, and customers.
  •   Acts as the on-sight safety liaison, including execution of some trainings, audits, inspections and personnel. This requires enforcement, implementation and knowledge of all safety guidelines and measures.
  •   Able to monitor and evaluate many processes while ensuring all tasks are completed.



Competencies

  •   Knowledge of all safety protocols and ability to read, write and communicate in various forms to reach the receiving audience.
  •   Workable knowledge of all reports, software and tools, including CAD capabilities.
  •   Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and office technology.
  •   Able to always lead by example; actively looking for ways to help others.
  •   Strong character including but not limited to; problem solving, integrity, sound decision making, reasonable, levelheaded, respect for self and others, and desire for growth.



Supervisory responsibilities

This position will act as a backfill related to supervisory needs and will have the same authority of supervisor, but will not have the direct responsibility of employees.



Work environment

The work environment will vary between; warehouse setting that is fast paced, sometimes loud and includes some extreme temperature fluctuations, and office setting.


Physical demands

  • Ability to communicate through audible and written communications.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel and climb frequently.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and hear in English.

Travel required

Most often all work is completed on the location site. From time to time, travel may be requested or required to accommodate business needs. Adequate time will be allotted for planning and communication.



Required education and experience

  •  Forklift certified and provable experience
  • Valid insurable driver’s license
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft office



Preferred education and experience

  • Experience in similar workplace environment and role, or proven training for this position
  • Workable understanding of drawings and ability to train if needed on CAD.
