POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Children and Families, the Facilitator will serve as a first point of contact for First Nations families seeking support for programming. The Facilitator will assist families with learning plans, coordinate pairings with other facilitators, knowledge keepers, elders and ensure participants remain engaged and progress towards their individual goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate the educational and therapeutic needs of the residents
  • Develop a range of programs focused on personal development, family dynamics and wellness
  • Develop and facilitate various language programs and workshops related to language revitalization;
  • Develop individualized learning plans in collaboration with Language Learners and Knowledge Keepers;
  • Coordinate regular meetings, learning sessions, and check-ins with participants;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for members throughout the program;
  • Monitor learner progress and provide encouragement, guidance, and accountability to keep participants on track;
  • Maintain accurate records of participation, progress, and outcomes;
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for the Michif Language Department as required;
  • Track program outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement of language programming.





QUALIFICATIONS



  • Post-secondary Degree or Certificate related to Education, Languages, or Program Facilitation;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in program facilitation, preferably in education, language revitalization or community based settings;
  • Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the child welfare system and health services;
  • Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills;
  • Experience facilitating workshops;
  • Demonstrate problem solving and organizational skills;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Knowledge of management, organizational and planning principles;
  • Be able to follow office procedures and practices;
  • Knowledge of First Nations people and Nations;
  • Able to work flexible hours and travel upon request; and
  • Applicants to provide criminal record and child abuse registry checks,
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous languages and cultural practices.
  • Familiarity with community-based justice programs and services.​
