Job Summary


Supports the Facilities Manager and Sr. Facilities Coordinator in maintaining safe, clean, and fully operational facilities for families, guests, staff, and volunteers. Performs assigned routine maintenance, basic repairs, visual inspections, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep under established procedures. Reports facility concerns promptly, documents completed work and assists with vendor access and maintenance projects; complex repairs, purchasing decisions, vendor management, and work planning remain the responsibility of the Facilities Manager unless designated to the Facilities Coordinator. This is a full-time, on-site position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the expectation of being on call for emergencies that arise at both locations.


Primary Job Duties


  • Perform assigned routine maintenance, visual inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Preform basic home and carpentry repairs, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and drywall repair.
  • Complete routine checks of guest rooms, common areas, grounds, mechanical rooms, storage areas, equipment, life safety systems, and report repair/replacement needs.
  • Respond to assigned maintenance requests, document work completed, materials used in CMMS or other designated systems.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and hazard-free workspaces.
  • Assist with room readiness, furniture movement, deliveries, event setups, seasonal tasks, and facility improvement projects as assigned by Facilities Manager.
  • Support vendor and contractor visits by providing access, communicating assigned site information, and reporting progress or concerns; this role does not independently select or approve vendors.
  • Assist with inventory counts and notify the Facilities Manager of low stock or replacement needs; purchases and cost approvals require authorized management approval.
  • Follow safety procedures, secure work areas, and immediately escalate emergencies to Facilities Manager and Manager on Duty.
  • Communicate respectfully with families, guests, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Travel between assigned locations. Required to provide support on nights and weekends for emergencies across both houses.
  • Communicate pertinent maintenance-related information to all applicable Managers.
  • Identify visible defects or operating concerns and perform initial troubleshooting.
  • Use checklists, work orders, manuals, and equipment indicators to confirm routine operating conditions.
  • Interactions: Has frequent contact with facilities staff and periodic contact with families, guests, employees, volunteers, vendors, and contractors. No direct reports or formal supervisory responsibility.
  • Work setting: Works primarily indoors in occupied residential and hospitality facilities, with periodic outdoor work and travel between assigned locations.
  • Able to use common hand tools, portable power tools, measuring devices, ladders, carts, dollies, and task-specific personal protective equipment.
  • Proficiency with computers, tablets, mobile devices, and Microsoft Outlook and Teams, with basic use of Word or Excel as needed.


Education and Knowledge

 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of facilities or maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance, facility inspections, minor repair methods, and appropriate escalation of complex or licensed work.
  • Working knowledge of common hand tools, basic power tools, fasteners, cleaning materials, and safe storage practices.
  • Basic knowledge of hazard recognition, personal protective equipment, chemical labels, safe lifting, work-area security, and emergency reporting procedures.
  • General awareness of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, doors, hardware, furniture, appliances, and life-safety components sufficient to identify and report concerns.
  • Ability to understand work orders, checklists, safety instructions, and basic written communications while supporting a family-centered hospitality environment.

  • Regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stair climbing, ladder use, pushing, pulling, carrying, and moving equipment or supplies; must be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
  • May encounter noise, dust, odors, cleaning products, temperature variation, wet areas, moving equipment, and other routine maintenance conditions; required protective equipment and safety procedures must be followed.

 

Responsibility:

The Facilities Coordinator is directly responsible to the Facilities Manager of Ronald McDonald House Atlanta and evaluated annually.
