Job Description

Senator’s Health Centre in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia is searching for a family physician to join this robust and rewarding collaborative practice. The successful candidate will join four other Family Physicians, one Nurse Practitioner, a Family Practice Nurse, one Social Worker, and a part-time Dietician. This office is in a brand-new space which offers ocean views! This opportunity awaits the right candidate who is looking for the chance to join a busy and exciting collaborative practice. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
• delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
• work with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day access
• participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
• utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR  which is accessible to all collaborating team members 
• Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
• Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
• Act as a patient’s advocate
• Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
• Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

• full-time 37.5 hours per week
• 46 weeks per year

Remuneration

• $375,000 - $400,000 CAD
• Remuneration type is either Longitudinal Family Medicine payment model or a Fee for Service payment model.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
• All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
