About the Role

Lead the vessel finance function with overall accountability for service delivery, financial governance, client partnership, organisational capability and transformation across multiple teams.

The role will shape and execute a future-ready operating model through standardisation, centralisation, digitalisation, automation and practical adoption of AI. The successful candidate will operate as a senior finance partner to management, ship-owning clients and operational stakeholders, while building a high-performing and scalable finance organisation.

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across vessel accounting and related finance functions.
  • Own the quality, timeliness and governance of vessel OPEX reporting across a large and complex portfolio.
  • Act as a senior finance partner to Principals, Ship Owners, Fleet leadership, Technical teams and senior management.
  • Provide oversight and challenge on financial reporting, vessel funding, variance analysis, controls and significant expenditure.
  • Lead and develop multi-functional teams, strengthening capability, accountability, succession planning and performance.
  • Resolve complex financial, operational and client matters requiring senior judgement and commercial awareness.
  • Define and deliver the function’s transformation roadmap, including process redesign, centralisation, migration and operating-model changes.
  • Drive measurable improvements in productivity, accuracy and service quality through systems enhancement, automation, analytics and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Strengthen financial governance, risk management, internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Establish consistent performance standards, management information and service metrics across the function.
  • Partner with regional and global stakeholders on cross-functional finance transformation initiatives.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant finance experience, including leadership of sizeable or multi-functional teams.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, controls, funding and governance.
  • Proven experience leading finance transformation, organisational change, operating-model redesign or centralisation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in applying digital tools, automation and AI to deliver measurable operational improvements.
  • Strong leadership presence, commercial judgement and ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in maritime, ship management, vessel accounting or another complex, client-facing operational environment preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP-system proficiency; NetSuite experience would be advantageous.
