About this role
Overview
We are seeking a Float Pool PCA, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCA. The Float Pool PCA assist nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. Float Pool PCA’s play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery. Â

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00am to 7:00pmÂ

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):Â
- Basic patient care:Â help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eatingÂ
- Vital signs monitoring:Â take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturationÂ
- Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.Â
- EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Patient Care Assistant’s (PCA’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nursesÂ
- Observation:Â monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staffÂ
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:Â
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required
- Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred
Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
- Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.
