About the role

As the Full Stack Engineer at Nucleus Biologics™, you will assist the Marketing team and report into the Business Development and Digital Strategy Manager. This individual will sit at our San Diego location. 

What you'll do

You will be responsible for development & maintenance of new software tools used by scientists building therapies and by the teams manufacturing for them. 


Responsibilities May Include: 

·         Maintenance of EC2 host: deployments, container lifecycle, Nginx, TLS renewal, disk and log management

·         Maintenance of RDS instance: backups, restores, connection health, query performance, and Alembic schema migrations

·         Monitor and repair scheduled ERP/QMS sync jobs

·         Resolution of issues reported by internal staff and customers

·         Maintenance of external integrations & API’s

·         Maintain proper technical documentation

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION:

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related field.
  • 0-3 years experience in a related field 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

·         Comfortable working in fast paced environments and being self-directed.  Strong leadership skills a plus.  

·         Strong Python, with production experience in FastAPI, Django, or Flask, and SQLAlchemy or comparable ORM depth

·         Strong React and TypeScript, including modern data-fetching patterns (React Query or equivalent) and component library work

·         Solid PostgreSQL: schema design, migrations, indexing, and diagnosing slow queries

·         Practical DevOps: Docker, Linux server administration, Nginx, and hands-on AWS experience with EC2, RDS, and S3

·         Ability to work safely in a large codebase by adhering to a strong set of processes and principles

 

Nice to Have:

·         Experience integrating with ERP or MES systems

·         Experience building out CI/CD pipelines through GitHub

·         Production experience with LLM APIs, including cost control, fallback handling, and prompt-injection defense

·         Familiarity defining and standardizing systems with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

·         Experience introducing and expanding observability features (error tracking, metrics, structured logging)

·         Prior experience working in cGMP environment is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

·         Ability to hear and speak to employees and external associates on the phone and in person.

·         Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)

·         Ability to walk and/or drive between buildings on campus, up to .3 miles for San Diego based positions

·         Ability to lift at 25 lbs. to a height of 3-4 feet on a regular basis.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

·         May require travel to and from Nucleus Biologics offices or customer/vendor locations based on position.
