The General Practitioner (GP) is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients, ensuring high medical care standards, and promoting community health and wellbeing.

    Job Description

    1. Patient Care:

    • Conduct thorough patient consultations to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
    • Perform routine examinations, health assessments, and screenings.
    • Prescribe medications, treatments, and provide referrals as needed.
    • Offer preventive care advice and education to patients to promote overall health.
    • Manage chronic conditions and coordinate with specialists and other healthcare providers for comprehensive care.

    2. Medical Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
    • Document patient histories, treatment plans, and outcomes effectively.

    3. Clinical Excellence:

    • Stay updated with medical advancements and best practices.
    • Participate in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
    • Adhere to healthcare regulations and standards set by the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and other relevant authorities.

    4. Community Engagement:

    • Participate in community health initiatives and outreach programs to promote public health.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations to enhance patient care and health outcomes.

    5. Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and administrative staff, to ensure a cohesive and supportive working environment.
    • Provide mentorship and support to medical students and junior doctors, as applicable.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
    • Proven experience as a General Practitioner or in a similar role.

    Working Conditions:

    • Flexible working hours, with potential for part-time or full-time positions.
    • May include on-call duties as required.
    • Work is performed in a clinical setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases.

    Performance Indicators:

    • Patient satisfaction and feedback.4
    • Accuracy and completeness of medical records.
    • Compliance with clinical guidelines and standards.
    • Contribution to team and community health initiatives.
    • Ongoing professional development and attainment of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements.
