Position Overview:Â
Reporting directly to the Courtenay Manager, the successful Engineer in Training to IntermediateÂ
P.Eng. will primarily be involved in construction related geotechnical engineering at a remote mineÂ
site in Northern BC. This camp-based position is a critical role in the construction of a new accessÂ
road within the remote location, and will include overseeing day-to-day construction activities,Â
coordination with contractors, subcontractors, site and other engineers, monitoring progress andÂ
providing both technical and quality management. Camp shifts are typically 2 weeks on, 2 weeksÂ
off. This position's office location is flexible.

While the construction project is seasonal, this is a permanent full-time position. During off-seasonÂ
months, the role will include general engineering services from proposal stage through to survey,Â
assessment, design and construction of projects. Projects may vary from resource sector road andÂ
crossing survey and design to geotechnical assessments to support resource development andÂ
construction. Â

motivated and dynamic team of experienced professionals. Fieldwork is an integral part of thisÂ
position, and applicants must be prepared for fi eld work including camp shifts, northern climatesÂ
and hiking in to remote sites in all conditions.Â

Major Job Functions:Â
•  Construction-related field engineering tasks including:Â
• Site supervision and coordinationÂ
• Technical supportÂ
•  Quality Control and ComplianceÂ
•  Reporting and DocumentationÂ
•  CommunicationÂ
•  Consultant engineering services, including:Â
•  Site investigations, geotechnical drilling and/or test pittingÂ
•  Report preparationÂ
•  Geotechnical designÂ
•  Coordinating project drawings and reportsÂ
•  Completing field reviews during construction Â
•  Assisting with project management and/or contract administrationÂ

Specific Skills and Knowledge:Â
•  Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positiveÂ
relationships across all levels of the business.Â
•  Strong technical analysis and technical writing capabilitiesÂ
•  Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work and in camp
•  Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerousÂ
projectsÂ
•  Willingness to learn and work with limited supervisionÂ
Â
Education and Experience:Â
•  Bachelor’s degree Geological, Civil or related field of EngineeringÂ
•  Eligible for registration with EGBC as an EITÂ
•  Experience working in a remote mine site an assetÂ
•  Minimum 4 years of experienceÂ

•  Remote Camp setting with private accommodationsÂ
•  Camp Accommodations include meals, gym, recreation and entertainment facilitiesÂ
•  Travel Arrangements provided from Courtenay AirportÂ
•  FIFO Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off  based on 12 -hour daysÂ

Salary Range:Â
•  1st Year EIT (E1-E2) 60-70kÂ
•  2nd Year EIT (E2) 65-75kÂ
•  3rd Year EIT (E2) 75-85kÂ
•  4th Year EIT (E2-E3) 80-90kÂ
•  Junior P.Eng. (E3) 85 – 100kÂ
•  Intermediate P.Eng. (E4) 100-115kÂ
