About the job:

Job Purpose & Objectives

• The successful candidate will support the continued growth of BBVA's Public Sector and Sovereign Wealth Fund franchise across Asia, working closely with senior bankers and product partners to originate, develop and execute strategic client opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the origination, development and execution of business opportunities with public sector clients across Asia, including sovereigns, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, policy banks and multilateral institutions.

• Support the expansion of BBVA's Sovereign Wealth Fund franchise in Asia, a strategic region representing approximately 40% of global SWF assets under management.

• Manage day-to-day client coverage activities, including the preparation and follow-up of senior management meetings, client visits, business trips, seminars, training sessions and other strategic engagement initiatives.

• Coordinate opportunities across product teams to deliver the full BBVA value proposition, including Financing, Global Markets, Transaction Banking, Sustainability and Advisory solutions.

• Support the execution of transactions and strategic initiatives, coordinating internally with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations and product teams.

• Identify new business opportunities while strengthening existing client relationships through proactive coverage and continuous market intelligence.

• Enhance BBVA's visibility and positioning within the Asia-Pacific public sector ecosystem through active client engagement, industry events and relationship-building initiatives.

Job Specifications

Qualification & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience covering public sector clients in Asia, preferably including sovereigns, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, policy banks or multilateral institutions.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline. A Master's degree (MBA or Master's in Finance) and/or CFA designation would be an advantage.

• Product Knowledge: Solid understanding of capital markets and banking products, particularly Global Markets solutions (FX, Rates, Credit, Derivatives and Repo), together with knowledge of financing and transaction banking products to facilitate cross-selling opportunities.

• Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to develop senior client relationships and coordinate effectively across multiple product and support teams.

• Commercial Mindset: Strong business development skills with the ability to identify opportunities, originate business and support transaction execution.

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Language Skills: Fluent English is required. Mandarin is highly desirable given the coverage of key sovereign wealth funds and public sector institutions in Greater China. Additional Asian languages would be considered an advantage.

• Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, collaborative and proactive, with a radical client perspective, strong commercial drive and a genuine commitment to building long-term client relationships.

• PC literacy (Microsoft Office including word, excel and powerpoint)
