This team will play a crucial role in enabling the ongoing transformation of our agencies and functions.

WPPs Finance, ERP and Consolidation Programme willĀ consolidateĀ and moderniseĀ WPPsĀ finance and ERP systemsĀ onto Workday and Maconomy, supporting operational efficiency and global standardisationĀ by transitioning from legacy systems, scaling delivery capacity, and aiming for a global ERP Finance template with necessary customisations.Ā 

A dedicated Programme Director is needed to orchestrate the people side of this transformation, ensuring that new ways of working are adopted, benefits are realised, and change fatigue is minimised.

The Programme Director is accountable for theĀ overall success of a programme, ensuring delivery of strategic outcomes and benefits realisation. This role providesĀ leadership, governance, and directionĀ across multiple projects and workstreams, aligning them to organisationalĀ objectivesĀ and stakeholder expectations.Ā Ā Key responsibilities include:Ā 

  • Strategic Leadership: Define andĀ maintainĀ the programme vision,Ā objectives, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business strategy.Ā 
  • Governance & Assurance:Ā EstablishĀ robust governance frameworks, manage risks, and ensure compliance with organisational standards.Ā 
  • Benefits Realisation: Drive delivery of measurable business benefits, tracking progress against agreed KPIs and outcomes.Ā 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, sponsors, and delivery teams to secure commitment and resolve issues.Ā 
  • Resource & Financial Management: Oversee programme budgets, resource allocation, and vendor management to optimise cost and value.Ā 
  • Change & Adoption: Ensure readiness and adoption of new capabilities, minimising disruption and embedding change effectively

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop the global vision and roadmap for theĀ programmeĀ 
  • Build strong relationships with leaders to influence and drive collaborationĀ Ā 
  • Establish and lead transformationĀ programmesĀ across WPP Enterprise TechnologyĀ 
  • Ensure deliverables are of the highest quality with clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefitsĀ 
  • Be accountable forĀ programmeĀ definition, planning, orchestration, and deliveryĀ 
  • Identify,Ā defineĀ and manage all aspects of theĀ programme’sĀ projects. Including, but not limited to, the overallĀ programmeĀ project plan, execution, resource management, risk and issue tracking, quality, governance, change management, risk management,Ā communicationsĀ and budgetĀ 
  • Coordinate dependencies, including those with projects,Ā suppliersĀ and stakeholders outside of theĀ programmeĀ 
  • Creates visibility across teams to mitigate coordination challenges (with Service Owners and Providers as applicable)Ā 
  • Develop andĀ maintainĀ programmeĀ risk management plans. CoordinatesĀ programmeĀ risk identification, qualification, responseĀ developmentĀ and controlĀ 
  • Work closely with the PMOs to ensure theĀ programmeĀ is reported on accuratelyĀ 
  • With PMOs, run stage gates for each project in theĀ programmeĀ 
  • Acts as liaison between stakeholders, sponsors and steering committee and manages these relationshipsĀ 
  • Conduct financialĀ analysesĀ onĀ programmeĀ alternatives including cost/benefit analysis, toĀ determineĀ programmeĀ feasibility and directionĀ 
  • Develop and compose business cases to support theĀ justificationĀ ofĀ programmeĀ investmentĀ 
  • Manage third party suppliers/partners to contract commitmentsĀ Ā 
  • PerformanceĀ manageĀ project management staff and provide coaching and feedback toĀ supportĀ thierĀ professional growth.Ā 
  • Ensure theĀ programmeĀ projects useĀ Strategy and TransformationĀ delivery standards and tools (Transformation Delivery Framework, and Wrike)Ā 
  • SupportingĀ the PPM Centre of Excellence byĀ identifyingĀ and championingĀ areasĀ where improvements mayĀ benefitĀ project performanceĀ 
  • Share activities and lessons learnt across PM community

What you'll need:

1. Experience & BackgroundĀ 

  • Extensive experience leading largescale, complex technology transformation programmes in a global or multi-entity organisation.Ā 
  • Proven track record of delivering enterprise-wide platforms, cloud migrations, infrastructure modernisation, or major application deployments.Ā 
  • Strong background in portfolio, programme, and project management, with familiarity in both waterfallĀ and hybridĀ delivery.Ā 
  • Demonstrated experience working in environments with multiple vendors, system integrators, and third-party delivery partners.Ā 

2. Leadership & Strategic CapabilityĀ 

  • Ability to define and articulate a clear programme vision, roadmap, and benefits case.Ā 
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, includingĀ Csuite, functional heads, and agency/market leaders.Ā 
  • Experience leading matrixed teams and managing cross-functional delivery across geographies.Ā 
  • Demonstrated ability to set the right delivery culture, behaviours, and expectations.Ā 

3. Governance, Control & Delivery ExcellenceĀ 

  • Deep understanding of programme governance, including stage gates, reporting, RAID management, and financial controls.Ā 
  • Ability toĀ establishĀ and maintain robust delivery frameworks, quality standards, and assurance.Ā 
  • Skilled in risk management, includingĀ identifyingĀ systemic risks, interdependency conflicts, and developing mitigation plans.Ā 
  • Ability to ensure regulatory, security, and compliance alignment across programme components.Ā 

4. Financial & Commercial Management

  • Strong capability inĀ budget ownership, forecasting, cost control, and benefits realisation.Ā 
  • Experience conducting business cases, cost–benefit analysis, and ROI assessments.Ā 
  • Ability to manage vendors against contractual commitmentsĀ andĀ performanceĀ KPIs.Ā 

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Exceptional comms skills, able to simplify complex programme detail into exec level insight.Ā 
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior sponsors, delivery teams, and external partners.Ā 
  • Skilled in managing change impacts, driving adoption, and minimising business disruption.Ā 

6. Change, Adoption & Business Readiness

  • Experience overseeing change management, including communications, training, and readiness.Ā 
  • Ability to ensure new processes, technologies, and capabilities are embedded and sustained.Ā 
  • Comfortable addressing change fatigue, capability gaps, and resistance points.Ā 

7. Technical Competence

  • Strong understanding ofĀ relevantĀ enterprise technologies.Ā
