GP/Urgent Care Veterinarian - Greencross Noosa
About this role
Company Description
At Greencross Vets GP + Urgent Care Noosa, we know that not every veterinarian wants the same kind of role.
Some vets love the relationships, continuity and variety of General Practice. Others thrive on urgent presentations, clinical problem-solving and making important decisions in the moment. Many enjoy a combination of both.
As our Noosa service continues to grow, we have the flexibility to consider veterinarians interested in:
A dedicated General Practice position
A dedicated Urgent Care position
A blended role incorporating both GP and Urgent Care shifts
Whether you are an experienced GP veterinarian curious about developing your emergency skills, an ECC veterinarian looking to step away from overnight work, or someone who enjoys keeping things fresh with a combination of GP and urgent cases, we would love to speak with you.
Our GP + Urgent Care Model
Greencross Noosa offers a model of care that bridges the gap between traditional General Practice and a 24-hour emergency hospital.
Our GP service provides the full scope and variety of General Practice within extended trading hours. Alongside this, our Urgent Care service supports pets requiring prompt assessment, investigation, treatment or stabilisation when their regular clinic may not be available.
Urgent Care veterinarians have the opportunity to work through interesting and unpredictable presentations, make meaningful clinical decisions and provide timely patient care. Cases can be investigated and treated within the hospital, with patients referred when ongoing intensive care or specialist management is required.
You will be supported by an experienced and capable nursing team within a purpose-built hospital. There are no overnight emergency shifts.
Choose the Role That Suits You
General Practice
This pathway may suit you if you:
Enjoy the breadth, variety and client relationships of General Practice
Want to work within an extended-hours GP service
Are comfortable managing consultations, medical work-ups and surgery
Value continuity of care and building trusted relationships with clients
Would prefer to focus primarily on GP work while being part of a hospital that also provides Urgent Care
You do not need to work across Urgent Care to be considered for the clinic.
Urgent Care
This pathway may suit you if you:
Enjoy fast-paced, varied and unpredictable cases
Are confident assessing, investigating and stabilising urgent presentations
Have sound clinical judgement and are comfortable making decisions independently
Want exposure to urgent and emergency-style cases without working overnight shifts
Are an experienced ECC veterinarian looking for a more sustainable alternative to a traditional overnight emergency roster
Previous emergency or urgent care experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential. An experienced GP veterinarian with strong clinical foundations and an interest in developing urgent care skills would also be well suited.
A Blend of GP and Urgent Care
If you enjoy both areas, we can explore a role that incorporates GP and Urgent Care shifts.
This option offers the opportunity to maintain your general practice skills and client relationships while also working through more immediate and complex presentations. It is an ideal balance for a veterinarian who enjoys clinical variety and does not want every shift to look the same.
Urgent Care Shift Times
Weekdays: 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Weekends: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
The balance of GP and Urgent Care shifts can be discussed based on the type of position that interests you.
What You Can Expect
The choice of a GP, Urgent Care or blended position
Full-time and part-time options
A varied caseload across General Practice and Urgent Care
Interesting cases that encourage clinical thinking and ongoing development
The opportunity to investigate, treat and stabilise urgent presentations
No overnight emergency shifts
An experienced nursing team that works collaboratively with its veterinarians
A purpose-built hospital environment
The autonomy to make meaningful clinical decisions
The opportunity to contribute ideas as the Noosa GP + Urgent Care service continues to grow
About You
We are looking for a veterinarian who:
Holds sound clinical judgement and takes a thoughtful approach to patient care
Communicates openly and builds positive relationships with clients and colleagues
Is comfortable working through medical cases and clinical work-ups
Is confident in surgery
Can work independently, including sole charge when required, with the support of an experienced nursing team
Enjoys collaborating and contributing to a growing service
Is committed to providing timely, compassionate and high-quality care
You may already have emergency experience, or you may be an experienced GP veterinarian ready to explore something new. Most importantly, we are looking for someone whose preferred style of veterinary work aligns with one or more parts of our GP + Urgent Care model.
Professional Development and Benefits
Through a combination of internal programs and partnerships with leading providers, you will have access to a broad range of development opportunities, including:
All-inclusive attendance at the Greencross Connect Conference
Professional membership support, including AVA membership or Vet Board registration
Access to leading online clinical resources, including VIN, VetFolio, Plumb’s, VECCS, Wiley and Vetstream

Petbarn discounts for your own pets
If you have a particular clinical interest or development goal, we are always open to discussing how we can support you to grow in a direction that genuinely excites you.
Why Join Greencross Noosa?
This is an opportunity to join a growing service with more than one career pathway available.
You can continue doing the GP work you enjoy, build confidence in Urgent Care, move away from overnight ECC shifts, or create a varied role incorporating both areas. You will have the chance to practise thoughtful medicine, work alongside an experienced nursing team and contribute to an evolving model of veterinary care on the Sunshine Coast.
You do not need to fit neatly into one category. If the clinic, team and model appeal to you, we would be happy to discuss what the right role could look like.
