Job Description Summary:

Responsible for coordinating financial activities associated with grants received by West Tennessee Healthcare working with federal, state, local and private grant companies. Employee will assist the Executive Director of the Community Health Institute and program managers with the financial management of grant contracts

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review and remain current on policies of federal, state, and local funders to include, but not limited to, Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice, Tennessee Department of Human Services, Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Tennessee Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Work with the WTH Community Health Institute to process grant contracts for signature and serves as liaison with various state, Federal, local and private funders.
  • Review monthly spending on each grant contract and prepare budget revisions as necessary.
  • Coordinate and work with grant program managers to monitor grant spending by line items.
  • Enter approved budget revisions in contract listing and invoicing spreadsheets.
  • Prepare monthly invoicing for grants including submitting all necessary documentation required by the grant contract.
  • Record and reconcile grant activity on the general ledger.
  • Reconcile monthly invoicing to payments received noting any discrepancies.
  • Assist with oversight of infrastructure grant contracts focusing on detailed documentation supporting invoices and monthly expenditures.
  • Maintains records of all grant contracts for all of West TN Healthcare.
  • Prepares all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the grants.
  • Works with internal audit the annual audit and Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
  • Serves as a liaison for grants received in collaboration with local and community based agencies
  • Participates in special projects, assignments and other related responsibilities as needed.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment and overall team effort of the department and hospital.
  • Available for call back as needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts and techniques of the Accounting profession.  Completion of a baccalaureate degree in Accounting or a related field with 24 hours of upper level accounting courses required. Masters of Business Administration preferred.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • Masters and/or Certification as a CPA is preferred, but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Skill and proficiency in accounting systems, general ledger and financial reporting as normally acquired through five to seven years of accounting experience in a health care organization.
