BACKGROUND

1. JOB PURPOSE
The Hans Foundation will support Sewa Dham school. The major task of ground maintenance staff will be to enhance outdoor spaces through meticulous landscaping, lawn care, outdoor maintenance, and equipment upkeep, ensuring aesthetic appeal, environmental sustainability, and safety.

2. Duties & Responsibilities:
Landscaping:
    • Planting flowers, trees, and shrubs according to landscaping plans.
    • Pruning trees and shrubs to maintain their health and appearance.
    • Mulching flower beds to retain moisture and control weeds.
    • Installing and maintaining irrigation systems.
    • Designing and implementing new landscaping features as directed.
Lawn Care:
    • Mowing and edging lawns using appropriate equipment.
    • Seeding, fertilizing, and aerating lawns to promote healthy growth.
    • Applying pesticides and herbicides as needed to control weeds and pests.
    • Monitoring lawn conditions and reporting any issues to supervisors.
Outdoor Maintenance:
    • Sweeping sidewalks, paths, and other paved areas.
    • Cleaning and maintaining outdoor furniture and fixtures.
    • Removing litter and debris from outdoor spaces.
    • Repairing fences, gates, and other structures as necessary.
    • Performing routine inspections of outdoor facilities for safety hazards.
Equipment Maintenance:
    • Cleaning and maintaining landscaping equipment and tools.
    • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or damage for repair.
    • Following proper safety procedures when operating equipment.
Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborating with other grounds maintenance staff to accomplish tasks efficiently.
    • Communicating effectively with supervisors and team members.
    • Assisting with special projects or events as needed.
3. Other Indicative Requirements
Educational Qualifications
    • Up to 8th Class
Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)
    • 1-2 years of relevant Ground maintenance experience.
Required Skills & Competences:
    • Extensive knowledge of regional plant life.
    • Knowledge of local pests and how to eliminate them.
    • Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers.
    • Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping.
    • Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping preferred.
    • Knowledge of landscaping techniques and principles.
    • Familiarity with operating landscaping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
    • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
    • Basic understanding of safety procedures related to grounds maintenance activities.
    • A love of the outdoors and plant life.
