About this role

Company Description

Onix is the Personal Intelligence platform. Each onix is a small language model trained exclusively on a single expert’s private corpus: clinical notes, unpublished research, proprietary methods that have never been on the internet and never will be. Fully isolated, never bleeding across experts.

Job Description

You will own activation and retention, and decide what Onix builds to grow.

Generic AI averages the internet. Onix lets you summon the actual judgment of a health and wellness expert who has spent a career on your problem, private and personal: names already live on the App Store include Dave Rabin, Mark Sisson, Ashley Koff, William Li, and Elissa Epel.

We need someone who owns what happens after install: getting people to the moment Onix actually clicks for them, and turning that into a ritual they return to because it makes their life better, not because it hooks them.

The ideal person probably comes from free-to-play games or a fast-growing consumer app, somewhere a level-up, a streak, or a well-timed nudge was key to the product. You think in journeys, not features: what a new user needs to feel on day one, day seven, and day thirty, and you design for that arc on purpose. You build this yourself, in person from our office in Old Montreal.

What You Will Do

  • Own activation and retention. Design the onboarding journey and the small systems, like a streak or a milestone, that make it stick, and own the numbers behind it.
  • Live in the data. Run PostHog yourself, with Claude Code and our PostHog MCP tooling, as your primary analytics layer.
  • Guard the definitions. Metric definitions live in the repo and change through pull requests, and you defend what “activated” means.
  • Design experiments. Run real hypotheses with adequate samples and stated windows, and retest every winner before you believe it.
  • Direct the roadmap. Decide what we build next on activation and retention, with design and engineering, and ship without a founder’s sign-off.

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • A track record in free-to-play games, consumer apps, or something similar, owning activation, retention, or monetization, and you can name the metric you moved and by how much.
  • Comfort doing the analytics work yourself in PostHog.
  • Enough credibility that senior engineers, designers, marketing, and GTM all enjoy working with you, because here we are one cross-functional team.
  • Skeptical about instrumentation: your default is to question the events before you interpret a drop-off.
  • Taste: a point of view about what should exist, shown by cutting things as often as adding them.

This Role is NOT For You If:

  • You want a remote job. We build together in person, in Old Montreal.
  • You want dashboards to admire rather than experiments that change what we build.
  • You need someone else to pull and clean the data before you can think about it.

What Success Looks Like

  • Activation is defined, instrumented correctly, and agreed on across product and marketing.
  • You are running experiments weekly without a founder in the loop.
  • Engineering brings problems to you first.
  • Day 1 and Day 7 retention have improved on changes you shipped.
  • People reach the moment Onix clicks for them faster than they do today.
